QuotePolice called over laptop lock-up

The Alliance Party's assembly team were left red faced after two laptop computers they had reported as stolen turned up in an office cupboard.

The laptops in question belonged to East Antrim MLA Sean Neeson and went missing from the party's Stormont office on Monday.

CSI officers dusted the room for fingerprints and people were searched as they left Parliament Buildings, but all to no avail.

Mr Neeson said the mystery was only solved the next day when his colleague Kieran McCarthy arrived for work.

"We didn't realise Kieran had put them away for safety.

"They turned up on Tuesday, we called the police and CSI came down and dusted the place for finger prints, but we didn't realise they were in the cupboard beside us."

Despite the mix-up, Mr Neeson said he believed they had taken the right course of action because two laptops had been stolen from Stormont earlier in June.

"I think there is a need for people to be careful anyway, most of the rooms here are unlocked," he added.
