Your mobile phone has died and you have to phone some one to rescue you.  Could you remember a phone number?  Phone dead so you can't look  it up,  Pubs closed so wher can you get a phone?

If you've brought  the car , you should  have an in-car charger

People still have home  phones don't they? I remember a  lot of those.

No home phone for 10 years now, it broke one day and never replaced it. Have this mobile number 11 years, still couldn't tell ya it. I remember my old home number, the wife's old home number and the clubs phone numbers, that's about it..

The Public Pay Phones were Call Card only toward the end. I'm guessing 1998 was the last time. I remember the top up credit lasted only a short time in the early days of Mobile Phones. So often if I was in a Hotel, Pub or Shopping center I'd ring from the the pay phones there, especially if I was ringing a landline.

On a trip to America in the early 00s would be the last time for me and only because my mobile phone wasn't ringing home.   Have a few call cards some unused I wonder are they worth are money today?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

I might have used a payphone in the US in 00s to ring a freephone number for an airline or the like, as this might not have been free on the mobile.
I definitely used a payphone in Japan in 2002 as your mobile did not work there in those days

To this day I still remember the phone number of a woman I went out with for about nine months, about 30 years ago. I could probably still dial it as quick as lightning too, I rang the number so many times back then. Funny how muscle memory works.

I used a payphone in about 2003 to call into work to say I'd be late because a component on my bike had broken and I needed to wait for a bike shop to open. I'd gone a few years without a mobile phone to save money. I used to carry around a folded sheet of paper with my contacts hand written on it. It got very hard to get by without a mobile though, I ended up having to get one if I wanted to have a social life.

I have used ancient phone numbers as pin numbers and the like.

The morning after 2003 Ulster Final drawn game had been on lash in Dungannon after Clones. Can't remember if phone died or no money left on phone whatever but remember having to use the phone box at the mini roundabout close to Viscounts.

I remember on the promenade in Nice, we were away inter railing through Europe and my wife, girlfriend at time, used a pay phone to call home, the wife was silent while her sister explained what had happened in Ballymena with the Quinn brothers!

I know the wife's mobile number, the landline at home (parents house I mean), and at a push I might get the parents mobile numbers right.

I remember an 8-digit bank account number from the 1990s because I was always writing it on slips of paper when I made a deposit. Still comes in handy when I need to pick a long PIN.
