I saw on Laois Today results that Portlaoise 2nd team conceded their last round of the league. surely they could of got close to 20 lads out of somewhere? not a good look for a club with a senior status and big population

Dead rubbers, injuries, county-commitments.
Too many simple excuses. Really annoying.

I called the C/Ballacolla one last week when I saw they were to play senior league matches Friday and Sunday. They were never playing both with their county commitments.

Laois man

Some small clubs in the county fielding 4 teams a big town like plaois can't field 2.Naas with 8 starting last Sunday and 3 more in the subs portlaoise with nobody on a laois panel not good for the county unfortunately.

What happened the likes of Cian Taylor and Ciaran McEvoy who were involved with Laois a couple of years ago?
The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. VinceLombardi

Abbeyleix with maybe a surprise win over Rathdowney Errill on Sunday, who were having a good league, sets up an interesting final next weekend with Borris Kilcotton and Abbeyleix, I'm sure both would appreciate a win

Laois man is spot on regarding the Naas/Portlaoise differentiation. Naas have a good football setup aswell.

I often scratch my head regarding the paradox that is Portlaoise. In the 80s, they were up there with the best, not only in the County, but the province. I won't name some of the greats that the town produced, but we all know who they are.

It almost seems that the hierarchy within the club have their heads stuck in the sand. But as a Laois supporter, we need them to get it right, they seem to be improving SLOWLY at underage hurling ( judging by the Laois Gaa results website that I check out from over here. But most of you boys are better placed than I. Finally I hope that the Fung win that final. Please could someone let me know if it is on Clubber

I often wondered was the portlaoise clubs move to rathleague the start of a serious decline in their underage success, particularly at hurling. Rathleague has always been a trek for the majority of kids in the town to get to, unless being dropped by a parent. It's not where kids go to meet up and hone the skills on the game

Take kids from other smaller clubs in the county, their local gaa pitch is where they meet up everyday to socialise, particularly in the summer months with the knock on effect of having a hurl in hand, all the time.

I appreciate serious plans are in place at the club grounds now but they've fallen so far behind over the last few years it has obviously impacted county teams.
This year they'd be in top 3 or 4 in the u13
B championship at u15
Outside the top 4 in minor standings for the championship on paper.
Probably B in the u20 championship when it comes around.
So there is progress but it's still way off what's needed for a county town.

I'd say the league final will definitely be on clubber. They ve showed the wexford and kerry equivalents so far this year.
They ll advertise on social media in next day or two, games for the weekend

Rathdowney have a strong team in div 4 I believe I thinks the harps team in the junior B league is there junior A team Ctown have a very young team in that div 5 final alot of minors from last year.

Although Aaron Dunphy, who all of you are aware that I really admire, popped over 0.12 against Camross, with 4 from play. I both on a personal and hurling quality level, believe that Abbeyleix will win that game by 5 plus.

Their previous minor and u20 titles and final defeats, means that the panel are coming into their prime.

It should be a good contest but the Fung all the way 8)  :-*

Ogie

Why is that game being played at 11:45am like a kids game ? ?

Again looking at the clubber schedule Offaly give their final the respect and play it at prime time 3pm on a Sunday

Laois Ladies in O Moore Park in the afternoon so I'd imagine it's not to clash with that
