I wonder is W.Hyland on the Laois ticket?

Baby No.5 is expected to arrive to the Hyland household in January!!!! So time to fully commit is limited.

Will Laois camogie or hurling be benefitting from the first 4?

Laois camogie to dominate in a few years. Zero contributions to Laois hurling thus far...🙈🙈

Harps dominance of the underage scene surely has to come to fruition at senior level eventually or is it too early yet?
3 u20 titles in a row. Its an interesting move to opt for an outside man in Andy Kearns in an attempt to get this current crop to title contenders.

Have they added any newcomers/ new blood to their panel over that period?

This point has been made before- the answer to the question lies in whether the Harps are winning these titles because they are strong in numbers and have better depth in talent to other teams or whether they are winning these titles because they have 4 or 5 really standout players driving the team to success. If the answer is the former then there is no guarantee that the Harps will go on to win one let alone a number of county titles. Strong in depth at underage does not transfer to improving a senior side.

If it is the latter though, then mixing these players with the a number of established players likes of Podge Delaney they could very well go on to be a serious force in Laois hurling in the next number of years. Castletown winning the minor title this year have a couple of standout minors Tom Og Phelan and Kyron Cuddy who have serious potential. These lads will be a great addition to the senior set-up when they are ready to step up in a couple of years time.

Folks the harps won loads of minors and U21s in the 80 and 90s and still never won a senior lots of talent over there but there's something missing. Tom óg is minor again next year Kyron cuddy will be help to a senior team plus Ctown were down 5 or 6 lads last year I believe most will be available next year.

Interesting comments about The Harps and all true. For me what's different from years gone by is that there winning u20s with this bunch. How many u20s/21s have they won before. Not many.
They have 6 with Laois Senior training panel atm with an additional 4 or 5 with u20s.

Winning u20s as opposed to minors means a hell of a lot more when trying to get an established championship senior winning team.
If they don't make at least a semi final in 2025 something seriously wrong.

I think that's a fair point about winning u20s. The Harps are not far away and all the talk on here that they won't deliver a senior could look a little silly in 4-5 years time because, if they do make the breakthrough, they have a good conveyor belt to drive on and be a force.

Have the harps being in a sfinal in the last 10 years?

Verbal

It would be closer to 30 years I believe?

I think it is inevitable they will get a county final or two.
Some funny appointments in last few years. Another one on this occasion.

A Niall Rigney (would he manage in Laois?) or Tommy Dunne type figure would seem a good fit.
The latter be expensive I know!

Are new mangerment team mainly kkenny that's taking over the Harps?

Laois Rising

The reality is the Harps were about 5/6 points off any of the serious contenders for the county championship this year. That feels about right with the team at their disposal at the moment. They will need two/three players of higher quality to what is there now to step into that team to drive it onto the next level over the next year couple of years. Having a surplus of good young players won't bring them on hugely if the majority of them are no better to what is there already. However, saying that, I do think that there are a couple of players of real quality coming through from the u20 sides of this year and last and it does feel like there is real potential there in the next few years for the Harps to mount a proper title challenge.
