"Cheeky Charlie McKenna..."

wud hardly say that roma have missed the boat when u consider they drew 0-0 with lyon at home and won 2-0 in france the first time they have been beat in 18 home games in europe!

However, UEFA have promised a full investigation, just weeks after United supporters were involved in another ugly incident in Lens during their victory over Lille.

Given the severity of last night's incident, the Old Trafford outfit can brace themselves for another financial punishment

We will also have to see what role Manchester United fans had in the incidents because they had some problems in Lens earlier this year."

Are these Great Man Utd Supporters??

John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher are both crap. They both shouldn't be playing for manu

maxpower

dissapointed by the red card on scholes, he had about 4 fouls in the 35 odd mins on the pitch.  He's a terrific footballer but for years we've been saying he should not ever tackle, he just can't do it.

Roma look a decent enough team, better than the RTE commentators gave them credit for and if United are to get the result they need at home it will take a huge performance.

As an aside it still sickens me the way Jim Beglin and the other RTE commentators love to slag Ronaldo.
What happens next????

Is it true that Rooney's goal was his first CL goal since 2004? And as someone said here earlier, that last goal was on his debut!
How bad is Rooney's scoring record in CL and Internationals? Has anybody got the stats on his International goals / appearances?

He's not turned out the world beater the English all though he'd be after Euro 2004.

what age is he? you fuckin arsehole.

AZOffaly

Slim, is there any need for that?

Anyhow, as is the norm these days, Rooney was hyped beyond all reason a couple of years ago, when he was an immensely talented, but raw young fella.

Now he is a slightly older young fella, who is obviously going through a bit of a dip in form, and unsurprisingly has not yet reached the ludicrous levels mentioned when he was about 17. Therefore the criticism is, as expected, wildly over the top.

I remember having a discussion about Rooney about 2 years ago on this board. My thoughts then are my thoughts now. He is a fantastic prospect, a brilliant talent, but is still a young lad learning his trade. Crazy pressure to be the man to deliver England, and United, to glory will only hasten a fall from grace akin to Gascoigne and/or Beckham.

Leave the young lad alone to learn the game, to grow up and to mature as a player. Enjoy the brilliant moments he gives, but take the pressure off him to deliver them every game.

Constructive comment as usual Slim, 1/2 your posts are just pure insults.

I was merely pointing out that he has not turned out at the level of Ronladinho or one of the world's best players as was widely expected, he was sensational after all initially. Until last night he hadn't scored in the CL since 2004, a long time considering the amount of games United play in Europe.

Ronaldinho has been a disgrace for most of this season and the entire World Cup. Is he also worthy of condemnation? Players have dips in form, and also have times when they play above themselves. The media seem to fail to recognise this, or refuse to recognise it. Therefore every dip becomes a crisis.

There is not one player whe has ever played the game that hasn't played poorly for an extended period. Most bounce back from it. Rooney will too, if he's allowed.

Az, Ronaldinho has not played to his full potential this season but is still one of the top goalscorers in La Liga with a high number of assists no doubt as well.

I think Rooney will come good again, the problem a lot of young players have is all the off the field stuff, too much money too young goes to a lot of young lads heads.

I wasn't necessarily brining up the Rooney subject to have a go at him, I was just stunned when I realised last night how bad is scoring record is in CL and International games! Hadn't realised he had gone three seasons without putting the ball in the net even once in a CL game. (Even Kenny Miller, arguably the worst goal scorer in Celtic history, managed 3 goals in the CL this season!)
Rooney was a great talent when he first appeared but the usual English hype painted him as a world beater long before he was entitled to that label. Since then he seems to have gone backwards - and it only dawned on me last night just how much!
Yes, time is on his side - but you'd have to wonder if he will ever become that world beater that England and Man U fans were hoping him to be?
Is every Utd fan as optimistic about him as they were a few years ago?

SlimShady

Ronaldinho? you're having a laugh. He's been absolute rubbish in recent times for Barcelona- especially when the chips are down. He seemed to shit the nest in the World Cup and was non existant against the bin dippers.

The best player in the world at the minute is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldinho has not been as good as previous years but no player has matched his level of performance for a few years, i think he has scored 18 goals this year, not a bad return. Problem with Rooney he has been over-hyped from the beginning beacuse he is English and will never match the expectations.
