Arsenal are lucky to be in the Cup final, penalty shoot out against Wigan, so wouldn't take any thing for granted that they will hammer Hull. They haven't won a trophy in 9 years so the pressure will be on  them

The same Wigan side who beat Man City two years straight. Arsenal are finding form. 3-0!

Well James McCarthy would have been one of their best players last season. Arsenal should have too much if they click

Shrewdness

Talk now is that United won't be making any announcement about the new manager until after the season ends on Sunday.. Van Gaal is supposed to have arrived in Holland. As he seems to be the only candidate, and with a crucial transfer window about to open, i thought a permanent manager would have been announced by now.

If it is a done deal as seems the case, Van Gaal will have already given Woodward his list of transfer targets. The chat was that he was happy with a lot of the targets that the club and DM had identified already so those would have been on going. I don't think going by his past that he would be the type not to be organised and have a good understanding of who would be good targets across Europe.

Just because it is not announced does not mean it has not happened. He could be working away in the background. Maybe the club do not want to undermine Giggs' short stint in the driving seat and are waiting until after the last game for this reason.

Shrewdness

Van Gaal it will be for sure. It's amazing the names of the players he's linked with, most of them false rumours no doubt.

AZOffaly

I'd be amazed if they weren't linked to huge names. This is Manchester United after all, and this is the first time in 25 years that they have obviously needed major surgery (as far as the press are concerned). So instead of linking one big name, the press will have a field day linking defenders and midfielders at the very least.

Im not sure how a manager can identify transfer targets when he hasnt worked with the squad at all.
How can he know which youth players he might like to take through, which senior players he feels are past it etc until he actually takes up the job and has a first hand opportunity to assess the squad?
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

I wonder if Van Gaal has stated that there can be no announcement until after the world cup? Let's face it will be a distraction if there is an announcement and given the history of the Durch it doesn't take much for them to get bolshie and drop tools!

It'll be a distraction either way, but probably moreso if they wait until afterwards as he'd be asked about it every day at press conferences if there was still uncertainty in the air. I'd say he'll be named Sunday evening or Monday morning.
