They should have the game this week and get Joe Biden to throw in the ball.

Watching the Sunday Game, the stadium in NY is crap. No game in the All Ireland should be in the likes of that.
Apparently it doesn't belong to the GAA
Generally US infrastructure is poorly maintained

I think it used to belong to NY GAA originally.

They then leased it for years after the city took it over. Currently belongs to Manhattan College who use it for other sports.

Biggest problem is obviously the surface. Its expensive and difficult to maintain decent grass playing fields somewhere like NYC with the weather and then the demands put on it by all the other sports.

Ever been in Gaelic Park? It's a good spot. The club room needs a bit of work though.

This has a breakdown of the New York team - I'd imagine that a lot of people wouldn't have realised just how many quality experienced intercounty players are on the team.

Will be interesting to see how they get on against Sligo.

Should be a Connacht neutral venue if New York reach the final but then again London in 2013 was in a similar situation and the Connacht GAA gave a home final match to Mayo.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Connacht teams flying out to New York coming to an end?

Mayo supporters who were already planning on a trip to New York for the opening round of next year's Connacht senior football championship should stall the ball.

That's the advice from Connacht GAA CEO, John Prenty, who says that no decision has yet been made on the format for the 2024 provincial series as the current five-year rota for teams travelling to New York came to an end last weekend.

This means that Connacht GAA chiefs will now carry out a review of the arrangement that sees New York compete in the provincial championship before deciding on how best to proceed.
Teams from New York have been taking part in the Connacht championship since 1999, and the Exiles won a game in the competition for the first time last weekend when they beat Leitrim on a penalty shoot-out at Gaelic Park.
New York — who have two Mayo natives in their squad, Matthew Queenan (Lahardane) and Jack Reilly (Charlestown) — will now travel to Ireland to take on Sligo in the Connacht SFC semi-final at Markievicz Park on Saturday week next, April 22.

However, John Prenty said that, regardless of last weekend's result, New York's participation in the Connacht championship is up for review at the end of this season.

"Because this is the end of a five-year rota, we will have to meet and review the situation," he told The Mayo News.
"It was obviously a great result for New York last weekend, and we're delighted for every team that wins a match in the Connacht championship, but the reality is that it's a significant cost to County Boards to travel over every year in terms of flights, accommodation and so on.
"And that cost has risen a lot since Covid, even with a grant from Connacht Council.
"So we will have to discuss it. Personally, I would feel that maybe it's time for New York to travel to Ireland for their Connacht championship games for five years.

"They were over for the Tailteann Cup last year, and they have sent over junior teams and hurling teams. Plus, back in 1999, and for the first few years that New York played in the Connacht championship, they would have travelled over.
"So that may be an option again," he added.
The Connacht GAA Council give a grant of €50,000 to Connacht teams travelling to New York for the provincial championship fixture to help and offset the cost.
The total cost of Leitrim's trip this season is believed to be in the region of €140,000.
All gate receipts from the game are retained by New York GAA, with more than 6,000 people understood to be in Gaelic Park last Saturday and match tickets costing $30 each.

Somewhere halfway between Connacht and Manhattan just so neither have further to travel.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Reykjavík's nice at this time of year.

New Yorks Connacht fairytale campaign over. All too easy for the home side who are into their first Connacht final since 2015. Sligo 2-16 New York 0-6.
