Quote from: GTP on May 23, 2026, 01:04:41 PM2 quick goals for Cavan great finish for the 2nd. 3rd looked like mishit shot for a point dropping in. 3-9 to 0-8 long way back for Tyrone.

Umpire was giving a point for the 3rd goal, a hole in the Omagh net?

Exceedingly Imade the clear stand out player on show.

Haven't seen a replay of the 3rd goal, but seemed it was initially given as a point. Cavan 14 men and collapsing, 1 in it.

If you want to understand how Cavan breed generations of footballers who are specialists in failure, particularly versus Tyrone, just watch this game. Incredible. I know they're only young lads, but still.

That was some collapse by Cavan.  Up 3-9 to 7 pts at one stage.. no control in the last 5 minutes.

Result Tyrone 1-18 Cavan 3-10.  Great comeback win by Tyrone but Cavan will be kicking themselves 11 points ahead then a straight red and a black left them with 13 players to finish out the game.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Just pure panic, headless chicken stuff, desperation lunging and fouling that invited the black, yellow and red cards that opened the floodgates for Tyrone. I really shouldn't be surprised at this, given the paper tiger nature of most Cavan footballers, and I know they're schoolkids, but this is a whole new sort of fresh hell to throw on the pile.

Captain Obvious

Just knowing Tyrone they'll probably go on to win the All-Ireland after the manner they won that game.  Lack of discipline the killer for Cavan.

cavanmaniac

The Cavan goalie should surely have tried going short with one or two of those crucial kickouts near the end, when we were winning nothing in the middle, no? And if I'm not mistaken, he pulled on one ball when he had ample time to gather it, and the clearance went to the Tyrone man and a point came of it.

You get some crazy stuff at underage given the youthfulness involved, but as a seasoned Cavan supporter you just knew that when it came down to psychology and calm heads in a championship game versus Tyrone, Cavan would revert to type. I'm referring there to how we started the desperation fouling when 11 points up, negatively managing the game instead of staying calm and tacking on the few scores we'd have needed to see it home.

It's some day's work to have contrived a way to lose that game from the positon we were in, just incredible.

The management has a part in it too. Get a player to go down and stop momentum. Not that players should be feigning injuries but they lost all shape and year is over.

Look-Up!

Black card looked very harsh to me (resisted the pun exceedingly!). But it was the general panic and no one wanting to get on the ball that caused the collapse. Easy to blame GK but literally no one wanted the ball.

thebigfullforward

Looks to be a different type of Tyrone team than recent years. Looked to be more big lads in around 6ft was there?

Lmao maybe my fav account on here. Just gut wrenching honesty. It can get better, but first it will get worse!

Possibly was, but no replays of it nor the second yellow, so hard to have a definitive opinion. One thing is for sure though - if not Imade with the black card, it would simply have been any one of the multiple other Cavan players flinging themselves with abandon into agricultural tackles in that final quarter. There was just a spectacular explosion of total headlessness all over the park, and yes, Rodney is right, on the sideline too.

Conan Canavan (Joe's Son) has the same posture and kicking style as Peter. An excellent display.
