TBF, it is one of the more significant historical events on the island.

The question is - would a balanced view be presented in any facilities managed by the OO?

Also - like it or lump it - if we are serious about a UI, then even the OO will have to come along for the ride in some shape or form. Helping out here could go at least some way to dispelling the dublin bogeyman myth the OO would love to portray.

The Republic has all the money.now. it can afford to be generous.

Prob not for this thread - but I read with interest earlier the long term planning going on in Dublin to mitigate overly large reliance on corporation tax as an income stream.

Dublin are starting to put aside money into long term investment (like the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund only on a much smaller scale) for if and when the status quo changes.

The UK? They had the north sea oil. All pissed away. Now financially broke, politically unstable and nowhere to go. Do you see any medium term planning in UK politics now never mind long term?

If you were a betting man and had to pick one of the two economies to be part of in 2050... it'd be the Irish one every time.

I went to see the walls of Derry in the 90s. The Unionist explanations were very ideological. There was nothing Irish about them.
Unionists will have to be more generous in a UI. The ideology is bullshit.

DUP minister wants to pull funding for the Féile an Phobail because it is not inclusive.

The same DUP minister that pours money into Orange Fest.

By the way, the decision by Féile an Phobail to exclude a Woman's rights group is the most stupidest thing ever.

Trans people's rights do not trump non-trans women's right.

For me Féile got this one wrong. Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the views of this group, you should still allow them a platform and ensure the panel is balanced and voices are allowed to challenge them.

As for the DUP, the hypocrisy is dripping out of them.

It's the wrong decision, not because I'm against either or, it's because these things need to be debated..

It's also important to bring in the OO to explain their culture

Bring in the PNSI and all the other sides of this place to have honest open debates..

You didn't decide to be born where you came from, it just happened, growing up on one side or the other shaped our views, until all views are challenged then we get nowhere and this ban on the women's group is an own goal, as the haters get another chance to hate, the vicious sectarian cycle continues.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Are they genuinely a womens rights group- which would be totally fine- or are they a we hate trans people group? Hard to know although you're probably better letting them speak either way and having someone debate them properly.

Rossfan

Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves
Or
If they are against some humans having human rights give them no oxygen.

You have to assume that whoever booked them did a basic check.

The issue here is FnP folded when an online mob got organised. That is a bad precedent to set.

We now have the DUP, of all people, having a reasonable higher moral ground position on equality grounds.

The trans people that are against womens rights or the women that are against trans rights?

Rossfan

My post said human rights.
Women and transgender people are humans.
By the way who are the " trans people against women's rights"?

Duine Inteacht Eile

You jumped to this group opposing humans having human rights fairly quickly in fairness. How did you get there?

weareros

Feile did the right thing. This is a hate group no doubt with links to Christian right in US. It is difficult enough for trans community, particularly young trans people, without platforming people like this in a festival celebrating culture. Of course the usual bigots in DUP/TUV/UUP will pile on along with the bible bashers and craw-thumpers. If they want a stage to spread hate, let them feck off to an Orange Hall.
