Having weathered first the fallout from the pandemic and then the energy disruption caused by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, households and businesses are facing the third major supply shock in half a decade.

RedHand88

The supply shock is caused by gombeens blocking the ports.

Hows it on the Govt? U live down south, no! Protests not work up here, as people all remember the road blocking by the loyalists during the 12th yrs ago. Am losing out driving as much as anybody, but if i blocked the road i be arrested. And the Irish Govt didnt kick this in the bud early. If theres a election in the morning the same parties get in, as half the country doesnt vote down south, but do plenty crying online.

Yes for all the red diesel guzzling, VAT dodging crew everything is always the government's fault.

Typical our resident gobshite and FFG bootlicker would be the first two to comment.

Even a pair of simpletons like yourselves can see that while the government didn't cause this they could resolve it today. Instead Mehole was in the White House a few weeks ago kissing Trumps arse.

So I'll ask again, if these protesters actually want to bring it to the attention of the government and their leckys, go to the parliament go to their offices go to their homes, the public will give little sympathy when their holidays are lost, appointments missed, work curtailed days lost!

These protests mean nothing, as the same arseholes will vote the same parties in and then complain when the next war has an effect on the fuel/cost of living. There's stupid and then there is Irish voters who protest and continue to vote same ones in!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

I'm presuming the farmers and contractors will all be dead on when the environmental activists block the roads into the beef factories and stop the milk tankers getting to the farms.

I mean the environmental damage from beef/dairy farms is 100% proven so direct action is the only way to go until they resolve it today by switching away from cattle or do only the small amount of farmers get to do direct action and everyone else has to suck it up.

A strong streak in Irish life that say country folk should be able to demand whatever they want as the plain people of Ireland, it's bollocks, mopery and played into bet elected opposition officials speaking out of both sides of their mouth.

This one isn't really for you, lad. Chew a few more crayons maybe. Back to the steadfastly and resolutely defending alleged rapists purely because they can kick a football.

Defence forces arrived at Whitegate and pepper spray used against protestors. FAFO.

Eagerly awaiting the cries of "tyranny".

About time.
If it was anti war crowd or tree huggers they'd have been cleared by Wednesday lunch time.

Yes definitely about the price of petrol...

The Muslim Sisters of Eire say they were intimidated last night on Dublin's O'Connell Street, where fuel price blockades are taking place.

In a post on its Facebook page, the charity, which provides services to the homeless, said last night's soup run "took a deeply upsetting turn".

"As we were finishing our service, we were approached by a group of five or six individuals carrying Irish flags. They began shouting xenophobic rhetoric, telling us this country is "only for the Irish," that we don't belong here, and that we should "go home".

"In a beautiful show of solidarity, those around the GPO immediately spoke up, asserting that we are Irish. However, the situation turned hostile. Our Chairperson and founder was targeted with verbal abuse and told to "go back where she came from" - despite being from Coolock. It was clear that because she wears a hijab, her identity as an Irish woman was being questioned.

"In 11 years of service, we have never experienced such verbal abuse. It was difficult to maintain the peace, but the homeless community - truly amazing people - stepped up to protect us.

One would expect tyranny at an oil despot.
