Heard on the grapevine from one off PTs ex backroom staff that its Philly Mc Mahon with a couple off his own trusted men,and a derry contigent off Mc Kaigue,D Mc Erlain and Lockhart in the backroom team

Whoever the next management team are, its a vital appointment. Maybe the single most important in recent times considering the recent highs followed by the lows of the past 18 months.  We are at a bit of a crossraods I feel.  With a depth of minor and U20 under age talent, only bettered perhaps by Tyrone in Ulster over the past 5 years we cant let this slip by.  There are no outstanding teams (like dominant Dublin) and therefore an opportunity to come out of the pack.  Realistically we can complete for Ulsters and SAM as much as the others IMO. I have heard Meenagh and McKaigue . Whoever it is I hope have a real passion and desire to see Derry football succeed and Not just another notch on their managerial journey!

Just like the last managerial contingent there are plenty of forward/ attacking football visionaries in that group of names. 😔

When you see the stats from the 4 in a row Kerry minor All- Ireland winning teams, they averaged 3 players breaking through into Senior Inter County football per year and out of that number only 6  in total being regular starters. This notion that because we had some underage success that we've a conveyor belt coming through is dream world stuff.

We (like Tyrone) played a ultra efficient brand of football that is now a thing of the past with the new rules. We have massive issues developing forwards and until Derry County Board start getting serious about hiring proven forwards coaches or at very least proven forwards this won't change.

Well if Donegal beat Kerry well with just hand passing next week that brand of football is here to stay

Accepted that underage success / strong teams does not automatically guarantee anything at senior level but at the very least we should have a decent base to build from compared to the vast majority of counties. 3 minor all Irelands in 5 years, coupled with StPats Hogan Cup success. Hopefully a good crack at u20s this year.   That is why this next appointment is crucial. The transition of these players from successful underage to senior is crucial. I agree, as Ryan O has pointed out, top quality forward coaches are very important.  We are still short of cutting edge / clinical forwards overall in my opinion. I have liked the  look of Éamon Young, Ger Dillon, Conal Higgins, Johnny McGuckin, Oisín Doherty on occassions - can any of these lads be developed...

Your sums are wrong, Kerry had a 5 in a row team and they have near 10 starters from them teams. D O'connor, D Moyihan, T O'Sullivan are injured and would be on. D Geaney and D Casey were on the last minor team.D Clifford, Sean O'Se.J Foley,Brian B. Graham O'Sullivan all played.

Mícheál Burns and Killian Spillane were on the 2014 winning minor team also as far as I can remember.   Mike Breen on one of them teams also Im nearly sure.
Theyve integrated quite a few and alot of them play vital roles on the current senior team . It can be done lads with desire and the right coaching in place

I hope the grapevine is incorrect. That would be a disastrous appointment.

I'd take Philly McMahon in a heartbeat tbh

With the gap between Tally being roaded and now, looks like the CB has dropped the ball again

That article tells us absolutely nothing that wasn't in the public domain / taped about over a week ago... CB 'keen to act quickly' , would need a De Lorean

Nothing before the round of championship would be an actual disaster, so just about a month
