Lots of clubs have underage hurling but going nowhere realistically, the push back in some already established Dual clubs is unreal

Why?

Football heads are stupid. Hurling will bring then young lads on something shocking. A different set of skills but ties into football.


Look at the amount of duel clubs who are going well and it's only helping them.

could not disagree more with this, the level of laziness that hurling brings to youth football is unbearable.
It might bring slightly more short distance speed but absolutely no endurance running.

Yes but in fairness the majority of your comments on here are just that some ones opinion is wrong or just "tripe" while offering nothing in return.

Tell me why its bizarre, tell us your experience of why its different.

Mine is hurling doesn't benefit football, completely different skill set. People watch 4 top hurling games a year and rave about the speed.

Realistically, Slaughtneil and maybe Dungiven every club in Derry is operating at Junior level, and even at that probably wouldn't win Ulster junior club title.
Bar couple handy individuals show me the dual club success stories outside of Slaughtneil.

1. The club in Dungiven is called Kevin Lynch's. Would be helpful to call them by their proper name. As an aside, the other club you mentioned is called Sleacht Néill not Slaughtneil.



2. The general consensus is for children to play as many sports as possible - get a full range of skills via multiple sports. Every coach educator promotes this theory worldwide.

3. A recent list of duel senior club teams who have tasted success in the past:

Just a few examples.

You can add Fourmilewater (Jamie Barron) to that now. Although they'll probably be beat by Ballygunner in the Waterford hurling final next week-end but their football club, The Nire, have been in about 7 of the last football finals, winning about three titles recently.

Our Hurling reps in Ulster  championships won't have a game until the end of October

In Waterford, the football championship only starts when the hurling one is over. I think hurling final in next week.

Derry has a bit more time.

From what I know, teams actually like week on week games. It's very easy to work around and training can be tailored also to suit.


Every player wants to play rather than train for two weeks, then get a game.

Great game of championship football tonight between Dungiven and Magherafelt in the minors semi final with Dungiven finishing strongly to win 2-14 to 1-11

At 1 point each after around 15 minutes it didn't look like it would take off. Magherafelt will regret the 2 quick goals in the second half.
A lot of overcarrying let go.
Lavey Bellaghy ht in extra time 3-21 to 1-22 to Lavey.

A great game by 2 super underage teams. The quality of players on the pitch, calmness on the ball, the number of balls turned over and blocked, quality of scores and high fielding I thought was a credit to both clubs.

Agreed after 15mins even though it was 1 each it was still a good game as daft as it sounds.
Mayes was massive loss for Magherafelt going down the straight. Lost that real killer instinct up front.

I do think Dungiven deserved it, small but more up for the fight especially in defence.

Yep it was a slow burner quality maybe not the best at times but it was still tense and absorbing,Emmett og McKeever was very good for Dungiven and in Paddy Higgins they have an excellent target man who is hard to contain

Yes. Few two pointers from both teams tbf, whereas in the other match I don't even think one was tried all evening. Opposing coaches take note 🤭
