Neither option particularly attractive to the Cavan traditionalist flat earth brigade.

That gave me a good laugh Subbie, thanks. Irony is clearly not your strong suit but I'll leave this here for you anyway...

Right over my head I'm afraid.

Can you explain please?

The Subbie

In your own time.
Am looking forward to this.

 ;D

If a Celtic jersey wearer holds a sign objecting to soccer in Croke Park as a foreign sport, it's considered ironic.

If someone from the renowned hotbed of cultural sophistication that is Monaghan accuses someone else of having a flat earth attitude....well, can you join the dots now maybe?

Two ulster titles and repeated flops in Croke Park gives some people fierce superiority complexes altogether.

Ah Right, so am I to take it that Mullahoran and Gowna have suddenly morphed into the Paris and Rome of Southern Ulster?
That in this suddenly enlightened state where Kilcogy and Dowra are striding the world stage hand in hand with London and New York?
That suddenly, in a blinding flash , the good burghers of Cavan GAA are open mindedly ecstatic about a fella like Matty taking over?
That the other choices were a Monaghan man and a failed Longford manager? That as bad as things are with Cavan football that there is no local hero there to step into the void left by Hyland & that this sits OK with the flat earth brigade , Polo grounds ,  brigade ??  Seriously ??
Anyway in terms of flops Monaghan couldn't even come close to you boys , a few U21 titles and suddenly they were dark horses  ::)

I'll give Cavan & Matty 18 months at most before he pulls the pin due to the unrealistic expectations of the breffni Taliban.

I don't recall making any such boasts or condescensions towards other counties?
Anyway, at least you're brave enough to make a prediction about Matty as opposed to posing as a genius with hindsight wrt U21s who were dark horses among more than their own  - and they aren't exactly over the hill yet and could achieve something yet, you know. Unlike a few of Monaghan's bucks.

mrdeeds

Is it not a Fermanagh man over Monaghan?

Now that we have established all that, is there any chance of you taking the race step and making a prediction on the success or otherwise of Cavan this year?

Banty has been in for a lot of Jobs in the last few years. He was linked with Roscommon a few years ago, and then Antrim, and Derry last year.

Not sure why he'd want to manage his rivals, more likely for the few euro.

Few might be a understatement going on reports from this weekend...

Disgraceful speculation.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

I'm glad you understand the point now and am happy to have cleared it up for you.

As for predictions? No, or disappointingly for you, none as wildly optimistic as yours are cynically hopeful at any rate. That said, I realistically hope we can get enough early points in Division 1 when other teams are still gearing up, to stay up, as that would be crucial for anything Matty might build down the road. It would be a good boost going into the championship, where this bunch of players need to be targeting at least an Ulster final appearance and a strong showing if they get there. Hardly outlandish ambitions I think.

More of the same, delusions of grandeur, Cavan football really has hit its nadir.

Dineen was only ever a runner in his own head. Even managed to show himself up with a classless exit.

Will McStay was FOD again in 2017?

Dineen walks away leaving McStay to clean up Rossie mess.
And to think some people question why do Roscommon continue to underachive at senior championship level...
