I don't think there's any limit to the time a caretaker Govt can operate as Bhunreacht??
Kenny and Martin will either have to come to some arrangement or else a new election if the talks don't produce around 65 votes for EK to form a minority administration.
Edit - Kenny/Martin either rang/texted each other, spoke/didn't speak  today about meeting tomorrow/next Wednesday. Sounds like 1st April came a day earlier in FG/FF land

No limit constitutionally on how long a caretaker government can be in place. The only practical barrier is the need to pass a budget, which this year is in October.

The only other proviso in the constitution is that the President can refuse to dissolve the Dail on the advice of a Taoiseach who does not retain a majority support in the chamber - so in this case, if Enda Kenny wanted to dissolve after today's proceedings and the President thought not enough time or effort had been given to the formation of a government, he could refuse the request and the Taoiseach would have to go back to Leinster House, and presumably resume talks.

Otherwise though, there is nothing in the constitution that regulates this situation.

Easytiger I think is basically right. I think though the President can refuse to dissolve the Dail on his own bat, one of the few things he can do without being ordered to do so. I could be wrong though.

Yes, he can. They went through this on RTE Radio when the first vote on Taoiseach was taken.

refuse to dissolve Dáil Éireann on the advice of a
Taoiseach who has ceased to retain the support of

SF could have said that with the outcome of the Election they would listen to any approach from other parties.
As it us now they are being seen as cowardly fence sitters only interested in themselves.
