Impressive from the Dubs. They're due to meet Donegal in the semi final, all things going to plan. That'll be some game if it comes to pass but I can't see Dublin being beaten. Mayo don't have the fire power, Kerry lack the pace, Cork the tactical nous and Donegal the overall ability. Everyone else could be annihilated by them. Some great games ahead of us though.

Is it not Ulster V Connacht in the semi this year?

We played the Dubs two years ago, or have you had that particular game erased from your memory?!  :P

But yeah, it seems we're all going to be up against it when it comes to the Dubs this year. But that's for another day... we have the "small" matter of Monaghan and possibly two further fixtures to negotiate before we even think about the semis or the Dubs!

The Dubs, Mayo and Donegal are going to have cakewalks in their respective finals. They might be caught on the hop in the quarters if they meet a hardy side. Unfortunately, not many hardy sides out there.

Kildare's tactics were dire. That idea of hitting a high ball into the FF line? I don't think it worked once. Only for slippy conditions early on they might not have scored more than six points. 1-2 came from Dublin defenders losing their footing.

McGuinness will have the Dubs for breakfast. Mayo too.
Think the same thing was being said about Down on the way into Breffni park last weekend.... :P

The Gas thing is the worst place to meet a Mayo team is the Semi-final. We have a great record reaching finals. :P

No stopping the Dubs juggernaut. Back to the drawing board for Kildare.  :'(

Get a new manager DH. That would be the first brick in the wall. You're not that bad and there are good players there. You need a brains trust and at the minute you don't have one.

Don't agree, they've a very good management set up but Dublin have too much. The only way Kildare could take Dublin would be to invite them on to a 14 man defence and hope you can hit them on the break. Kildare should be lauded for doing something more positive.

You set your team up to win. Heroic epics of failure are for the history books.

Are you North or South Dublin? Or do you think it should be East and West Dublin?

We're bringing sexy back to Gaelic Football so we're not picky

Who'll get the use of Croke Park? Who will the Ref favour in games between the teams? All new dilemmas for the North, South, East or West Dubs.

Strange thing to me was if you are going to try to spook the dubs with high ball, why not play o'connor? I assumed a more mobile approach was coming but he'd probably have done ok in a barrage scenario.

Back in 1990 (I think) the GAA President, Peter Quinn, set up a review committee to explore ways to addressing the problem of the big drop out rate as kids progressed through the various grades right up to senior intercounty level.
Dublin was the main area of concern.
One of the recommendations that came from this review was that Dublin be split in two.
It seems that 5 named clubs in the county could field more juveniles on any weekend than any of 5 counties that were also listed.
(Thomas Davis, Ballyboden, Brigid's, Vincent's and St. Anne's were the clubs and Cavan, Fermanagh, Sligo, Leitrim and Monaghan were the counties. I'm not 100% sure that I got the last one in either list right but the first four are correct.)
But the fall off rates in all Dublin clubs were far higher than was the case in any other county.
Arising out of all this, the review committee suggested that Dublin should be split in two.
With two separate county structures, more kids would remain involved for longer.

The Dublin reaction was predictable and the proposal was shelved.
But the committee also pointed out that, if Cork and Belfast were excluded, Dublin had a greater population than the rest of the country and the gap was widening al the time.
Twenty three years on, the situation is even worse.
Maybe the review group's proposals should be looked at again...

Kildare have went way back foreby Dublin been stronger now than when they won the all-ireland 2yrs ago. Its probably time for a new manager, they have come as far as they can under McGeeney, they have turned the corner and started to slide after losing to Donegal 2yrs ago when they should have won. Dublin looking strong but i await with interest them breaking down the donegal defence, Donegal as champs still lead the pack and its up to dublin to knock them off that perch.

donegal haven't beaten dublin yet. when they do- they can talk about knocking people off perches
