Offaly 82 had some luck.

That Offaly team spent 2 years('78 & '79) running the "Best ever" Dublin team right to the limit before the beat them in '80. Then spent the next two years ('80 & '81) trying to beat the "greatest team ever" before beating them in '82. They should have won in '83 but the week before the '83 leinster final Cork beat Kerry in the Munster final with the last min goal so like typical Offaly teams went on the beer as they though the AI was theirs before being caught by Dublin in the Leinster final. Following winter Matt Connor had the accident and ripped the heart out of the team.

97 Kerry team was poor, soft run in and did everything to give the final to Mayo but Maurice Fitz decided in the second half that it was a waste of time expecting them to score so decided to show them how to kick points.

This often gets called a bad Kerry team but I think a lot of that is due to the final being so poor. A team with Maurice Fitz, Seamus Moynihan and Darragh Ó Sé could hardly be classified as poor.
The 5 other forwards weren't the greatest but when you include such an outlier like Maurice Fitz and average them out, then it's still better than most.
From 1-9, they were definitely more than decent.
Their path mightn't have been the toughest but that doesn't make a team bad, the Kerry team of the 70s and 80s often had much easier paths.
There were still some decent teams in the country e.g. Meath, Mayo, Galway, Tyrone, Derry.
Kerry also won the league final against Cork in Cork that year, and a lot of that team won the All-Ireland again in 00.

Subs for Kerry in the AIF that year were Johny Crowley and Mike Frank Russell . Must have been a handy enough team to have them players on the bench.

If it wasn't for the combined efforts of Kildare and Offaly a serious team would have won that All Ireland in 97.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Funny I always think of 97 as the one we might have won. If Davy Dalton had kept his head at the end of normal time in the second game. Which he didn't.

To answer the question posed in the title - hopefully it will be Roscommon 2013  ;D ;D 8) 8)
2026 the year of the 9 Cups

I've a feeling Armagh beat Tyrone in 1990 in the Athletic Grounds. From memory Tyrone had a goal from a 45 disallowed in the dying minutes and Armagh held on. I think the Colm Donaghy sending off was in the drawn game in 1993 with Armagh scoring 2 late points to level it and winning the replay in Omagh with Houlie jumping on the fence following a goal in the second half.
