Today in free speech: my Twitter feed is no longer full of hysterical crying into the camera and threatening civil war now that the shooter turns out to be one of their own.

Instead it's full of RWNJs coordinating and bragging about how they're doxxing and stalking anyone who mocks Kirk's death. Contacting their employers and trying to get them fired. I saw one video of a man targeted for harassment at work because of something his wife said online. They're going after the families of anyone who says what they don't like.

"Free speech" my ass.

Sing songs about how "Charlie got one in the neck" etc etc.

It's really morbid stuff. I don't get it.

The messages from the TUV and Áontu about his death were the most surprising. Not so much TUV I suppose but Áontu seemed to be just as much in grief, see him as some heroic purveyor of truth. Said a lot about their religious fundamentalism. It's on their Facebook

Kirk was all about silencing people in academia who he perceived to have a left-leaning bias. He coordinated a campaign of harassment and intimidation against them, threatening their safety and driving some of them out of the profession.

That he was a martyr to the principle of free speech is the biggest lie that's been peddled in the last week.

Free speech was his mortal enemy in life as much as in death.

Charlie Kirk came out with morbid stuff himself.

A year ago he called from public televised executions even suggesting they could be entertainment events sponsored by Coca Cola.

How is that different from Cliftonville and Shamrock Rovers fans celebrating Billy Wrights death?

I think you do get it, you just don't like it.

It's not different at all. I wouldn't sing about Billy Wright. It's weird.

Agree, if you're chanting about someone dead you have other issues.

Despised Thatcher but never lowered myself to cheer on her death.

The whole thing is not unlike soccer supporters chanting about Munich or Hillsborough.

Agreed, never cheered or felt joy at anyone's death. To lower yourself to that kind of hatred or malignancy is to become inhuman. It's the type of mentality you'll find in someone that bombs children as they sleep in Gazan tents or drive a car into crowds at a Christmas market.

You can disagree with Kirk, dislike him even, but to what purpose does laughing at his death achieve, other than to inspire hatred and anger in others?
