8 weeks is not so bad.

He tried his dirty best but just couldn't seem to get caught by the refs and umpires and linesmen some of whom were within a few yards of him.

What can you do ? The poor old ref togged them it seems and just wanted out of there handy.

Ash Smoker

How many matches will he miss in those 8 weeks?
If he is cute, he could cash in on his new found GAA celebrity status.

If Galway club hurling is supposed to be as rough as a Clare woman drinking brandy, then how come their county 15 is always as soft as a bale of cotton wool?
Yer man Johnny Maher would have been sorted out fairly sharpish if he started swinging like that down in Tipp.

Yeah, Pa Bourke would have him ate up and shat out in no time.

Tipp have their fair share of windy hurlers too. The days of hells kitchen are long gone.

As Michael Rice could no doubt testify.

There's plenty of hardy lads up in Galway, but the fact that neither the Thomas' players nor the Portumna players sought any recrimination over incidents in their high-profile games with Gort would point to Maher carrying a particularly robust reputation.
