northern digital tv in south?

Apologies for the up coming stupidity.

heading on holidays to wexford, read a trip advisor review & house I'm goin to seemed to have a shitty tv,  I have a smallish digi tv in the bedroom, tempted to take it with me, question is, will it work ok? Can I just hit the electronic channel finder & it'll retune to local channels? (i cant get rte etc.. at minute)

Is there no North-South body for sorting this shit out?

You should get the analogue stations this summer and possibly the digital UK channels from Wales. A bog Freeview set will not pick up Saorview, a Freeview HD one will.
