Quote from: Na Glinntí Glasa on February 12, 2026, 11:59:34 AMfolks need to catch on that we have had one of the worst periods of rain and weather compared to what we usually have seen. You arent going to get any clubs dashing forward to have their field torn to shreds in the middle of Feb.

The pitches are into the necks with water and no club will want to be having their grounds ruined.

Cushendall's field was torn up for the Clare game and they absolutely don't want another game on it. Dunloy are playing a wait and see for the Carlow game and if it isn't fit for it then it wont be there. Not even the clubs own teams are allowed on the grass at the moment to train.

The county will be getting plenty of bills for grounds repairs at this rate to add to the existing ones sought after.

What's this? Some common sense appearing on this forum??

Probably the only grass pitch in the county that a match could be played on is Cushendun. They're hosting the camogie on Saturday and even if they could do two games in two days, I don't think they'd have the football arcs on them.

Na Glinntí Glasa

to be fair if they did take two games it would destroy their pitch as well.

Be interesting to see what shape it is after the Tipp game on saturday. The fact that they have to take them to Cushendun shows how little fields are open at the moment.

Antrim -3 in the bookies at the weekend.
Something I'm missing going off the past 2 games seems a big hindicap to me.

If anyone's interested my acca for the weekend goes like

Monaghan +5 11/10
Cavan +6  1/1
Westmeath +3 10/11
Wicklow -5 11/10

16/1

I hear some of the Downey clan has departed the Ulster select and will be returning to Lavey , good enough for them never should have been there in first place. As far as I'm aware Matthew and Connor Downey are leaving

Paddy Mcbride will miss the chance to play on his schools pitch on sunday

Walter Cronc

Could you not start by investing in say St Louis Ballymena? The aim being competitive in McRory level football. Start to actively address the player drain from Portglenone, Cargin, Creggan, Moneyglass etc to Maghera and Magherafelt.

your life essentially around games , without dates and fixtures makes this signifcantly harder , I am helping with our seniors this year and if i want a weekend away with the wife and kids It needs to be planned in advance !

This is thrown up every year, THE CLUBS are generally at fault while they decide.. The dates master planner has been done a while. So are you speaking to your club sec and asking why this is?

To be fair there isnt much that isnt going to change from last year.

As you say MR2 we know that the league starts in March.

There wont be any midweek games until midway through April and at that they will be early throw ins. The later games will come in towards the end of April.

We know the Ulster dates and most likely when the Tailteann Cup is liable to be as well.

Oh and National/Regional Feile weekend is 27th of June.

The North Antrim feis weekend is the 4/5th July so there will be no fixtures that weekend.

Championship will start at the beginning of August for the round robin games with no doubt Junior/intermediate first with senior then after.

I cant see much else changing outside of whats done every other year

Saffsof82

Game is in Portglenone after all
