Most results as expected but some tighter than expected. Ballymena out so will be disappointed. Tnn look better than people thought but just two tough games. Glenravel aldergrove looked like it was in the balance until late on.

St endas drawing with moneyglass probably biggest surprise result in intermediate.

Glenravel against aldergrove wasn't a classic. Aldergrove were right in it until injury time and a late goal and 2 points put a bit of gloss on it for glenravel.  Aldergrove got a man sent off in 1st half with 1 glenravel man black carded in the same skirmish.Aldergrove got a 2nd red card a few minutes from time too. Glenravel  have went backwards a lot since they won the intermediate a few years back, aldergrove could be in serious diffs if they end up in the relegation playoffs.

Is head to head a thing in the league standings? If so aldergrove and St Paul's would be in playoffs then st johns randalstown and ld ballymena are basically relegation quarter finals. Glenravel and Rossa a knockout then too basically and aghagallon have a , small, chance. Bottom end of tables more interesting than top.

Made it to Corrigan today and witnessed the most scandalous red card in recent history. Spectators from both sides completely bamboozled. Hope the man that made that call is proud of himself this evening. And it wasnt the referee who had a fine game. (Nor was it his linesmen before he starts    )

Still the usual suspects really when we get to championship.

With the exception of St John's who seem to be the fallers and Dunloy offsetting that in recent seasons.

But nobody new looking capable of coming into the knock out mix.

All points to a smaller Senior championship going forward and a subsequent stronger Intermediate championship behind it.

Have Aldergrove any ambitions to improve that facility or look for a new site?
If you ever needed an understudy of the problems within our county surly an area like Crumlin is a good starting point.
Massive potential in that town but from the outside looking in they seem to be massively under achieving.
Modern facilities would be a good starting point ,not trying to take away from anybody trying within the club either BTW.

I played with Crumlin United a good few years ago and it was a soccer town that played Gaelic football when there was nothing to be at in the summer, so for Aldergrove to have turned it around shows some good things happening. I remember they would get beat regularly by Johnnies/Cargin/LD second teams, then a Cargin man, JC, changed their senior teams fortunes. Not having access to any funding will always hurt facilities to a degree and most local landowners not being GAA-friendly doesn't help

More too it than just saying they are underachieving, the village experienced massive growth mainly from families moving out of West Belfast cashing in on the city prices. However these families, still socialised and retained their ties with the clubs back in the West so there no growth in the playing population despite the growth.

I believe this is now starting to turn around with some work going on by the club, no doubt some investment help would make this more successful.

Sure there's a fair few places around Belfast where this is the same. Heard Crumlin and Glenavy especially bad.

The full back (Emmett?) Was first to go. Then I think it was the 7 who got the late red. I think the slabber you refer to was 5 (Jethro?). He was lucky not to get red as he was at it before the ball was thrown in and continued throughout  until he was subbed in the 2nd half. Discipline wasn't great from them, but hard to fault  their resolve and effort, when going a man down. Glenravel will have been relieved to scramble over the line. From any of the prospective candidates to go down, Aldergrove would be favourites for me, as the suspensions could really  hurt them as they didn't appear to have much depth on the bench.

Johnnies looked to have Cargin well on the ropes until the green blitz came. Straight knock out now in that last group game with TNN along with Pauls and Ahoghill and LD Ballymena to see who joins Aldergrove in the relegation playoff.


I like the look of that Derry/Down championship format, one back door opportunity if you lose and a lot of jeopardy.

Gallon would have h2h over bridgits
Ahoghill would have h2h over Gallon
Bridgits would have h2h over Ahoghill

all teams on 4 points, does h2h go out the window and it comes down to score difference?
