Just saw the end of this.  Gay Byrne interviewing pople about their beliefs.  Next week BrendanO'Carroll.

He makes interviewing seem so easy.

Didn't know he was from Barnsley. Can hear it in the accent now that he mentioned it.

The meaning of life and Brendan O'Carroll on the one page. Are the hallucinations back?

Why do people hate Brendan O'Carroll?  Interesting guy.

As usual, people confuse stage and tv persona's with real life.  (Charlie Sheen eexcepted   :)  )

Hardy

That happens to me all the time.

Watched a right few of these over the last few days. Was never fond of Byrne but thought they were excellent programmes.

Byrne was and is a smug git who has alienated many's a viewer on the way he handled interviews like the Murphy interview, when he decided it would be fun to totally lose all sense of objectivity and set Annie Murphy with lying bitches who were planted in the audience and tried to discredit her, yet it was obvious they were lying!

The Bishop was a thief and robbed one of the poorest regions in the Country at the time, he ad already admitted that he was the boy's father and yet this one bitch lied through her teeth and said that the Bish was in fact noit the baby daddy, Byrne was 100% in the corner of the Church, Bishop and in my opinion he threw her to the lying wolves!

I have had no time for him since nad never will, he is a part of the establishment and should be ashamed of the way he has handled some politicans (shinners) yet  gushed over Paisley when they met.

Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.

Did ye see Dunphy tonight?

Emotional but unstable.

I know this is from 2013, but.........

Gay Byrne, for all his faults, was never in the pocket of the Church.

"...in 1966 when the Bishop of Clonfert condemned The Late Late Show as immoral and Gay Byrne as a promoter of "filth"..."

http://www.independent.ie/style/sex-relationships/the-sex-factor-26482629.html

That night there were only three phoned complaints to Montrose, and one telegram. Sent from the Bishop of Clonfert, it read: "Disgusted with disgraceful performance."

The next morning the Bishop let fly from the pulpit, calling on "all decent Irish Catholics" to protest. The public ignored the call, leaving it to a handful of obedient public bodies to work up a head of righteous indignation.Loughrea Town Council branded the Late Late "a dirty programme that should be abolished altogether". Meath VEC accused it of "anti- national" treachery.

The bishop had called it badly wrong, and the vast majority of "decent Irish Catholics" left him to hang.

Apparently though Gaybo was friendly with the bauld Bishop Casey.

Its a national disgrace that Gay Byrne only has three RTE shows on the the go in his retirement ( RTE pension ongoing) Its a national disgrace that we cant find another TV show for Uncle Gaybo. He is our national Uncle and Twink is our Aunt we desperately need to find more work for these legends.
