The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Couldn't get the commentary but those points were immense. Would seriously discourage defenders fouling anywhere in their own half.

Unreal, even the normally arrogant Kerry men were nearly speechless.  Best free kicks I have ever seen without doubt.

Savage points, he has an unreal kicking style and has a kick like an ass. He can tend to miss the ones you need him to kick though, and in that game South Kerry were well behind and coming up late on the rails. His kicks weren't pressure kicks as such and he can struggle the odd time with that.

Having said that, when he is on form he is lovely natural kicker.

He makes it look effortless, then again it helps when you had Maurice Fitz teach you as a young fella

he'd a bit of wind helping him all the same ;)

I'd say Vaughan could give him a run for his money - he must have kicked about 7 or 8 from around the 50yd mark against Derry in the 07 quarter and they seemed to be still rising as they went over the bar.  The only problem with Vaughan was that he'd be as likely to miss the lot the next day out.

I have seen Sheehan score long range frees before, but does he always hit them as high as he did with these two?  They were hit some height up in the air, there must have been a decent wind behind him too.  Pity he doesn't do anything from play.

Has he never entered the Kick Fada?  Would he have the longest kick?

Sure,hit it yourself Ref!

Unbelievable. I saw him play for Cork IT in the Sigerson semi-final against Queens at the Dub in 2007. The scores he put over that day were unbelievable, Queens couldnt afford to foul in their own half at all. Only he had to go off injured that day I'd say the result could have been different! Serious threat from the dead ball

Some kicks.

He missed a rake of scoreable frees for Mary's Cahirciveen in the Junior Final on Sunday though.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

He did indeed. Were you down at it DH? They still had too much for Dromid. Declan needs a rest.

Jesus they were epic! Any more like that? Could watch those all day, and the commentators are good as well. "He's 80 yards out, and we'll say he's 90 if he kicks it."

AbbeySider

Does he contribute much from play though?

Much like the criticism our own Maurice Sheridan in his day

Was listening in on the wireless AZ. Poor enough fare according to anyone I've talked to since.

I wonder will the greatest player of his generation be tempted into making a comeback for a shot at the Munster title?

I'd say at 73 poor old Mick O'Connell is probably better off in the stand.
