I never understood why they abandoned the ground instead of continuing to play games until the diggers were in position, which is what they did in every other ground in the country. Given that delay was even more likely in Belfast it made no sense.

The decision not to renew the insurance for the grounds (again disputed as to under who's advice) was touted as the reason that it got mothballed.

There was an issue with the stand, apparently. But it is not clear why the terracing could not have been used. They didn't try.

The decision not to renew the insurance is effectively the decision to close the ground.

Then the stand was falling down.
Then there were major electrical issues with the stand.
Then there were more lies.

And the truth is somewhere in the middle there of all of that

I'm not convinced it is at all.

As I've said before, a social club was allowed to open its doors every single day for the next 13 years in that falling down, major electrical fault stand.

I'm pretty sure we all know the F**k ups and by whom, I believe everyone has contributed to this mess in some shape or form but whatever has happened has happened and we can't turn the clock back and fix it so what do we do now to forget the past and move forward?
As stated in an earlier post the losers of this are Antrim Gaels who have had no County Ground for big matches either Club or County which is a shame when you look around the Country and see the facilities other Counties have. Trying to agree on an alternative and push forward is the next hurdle and we all know Politicians here couldn't agree on the colour of their shite.

None of it makes any sense. There is still potentially 150 million to build something. I have previously posted recent German football stadia with capacity around 30000 coming in cheaper than that so why is there chat of plans being scaled back to a cow shed. I mean where does all the money go FFS. Ps the answer is obvious - see previous GAA developments costing fortunes and the end results being pathetic.

Yeah, £150m should get a decent stadium alright.

Europeans can build stadiums a lot cheaper.

Definately somebody getting an extra bit of coin sonewhere.

It seems there is over £200 million available if they want it.
Talk is Stormont is likely to raise their share to £100 million to compensate for inflation. £50 million from Westminster (though saw somewhere GAA are reluctant to accept this?), £42 million from Dublin and £15 million from the GAA.

I, too, don't understand how the scale back is so great considering.

Is all of this money available in actuality? And if Stormont inflation rates its contribution then the GAA will have to as well, and they should.

Exactly are they seriously trying to say with the money available they can't have something that is going to be better than clones ;D I think Mr Burns needs to do some f#3king explaining and quick

Such is my level of trust at this stage, I sense the latest could just be a facade to keep the project in the news and have the twitterbots bitching at each other about orange & green.

Liverpool spent £114m on the new main stand (10 years ago, but it is state of the art) and more recently £100m on the new anfield road stand.
Can anyone explain to me why this sort of efficiency can't be replicated in Casement?

It was mentioned recently about Louth's build. I know people have commented that there are significant differences between the two but it's difficult to understand (for me, anyway) how Louth are aiming to deliver a 14,000 capacity stadium for around £20 million and at the same time there is talk of scaling Casement back to a capacity which isn't a boot in the balls away from that even though there is more than 10 times the money available.
I know 10 times the money will not get you 10 times the capacity but you're bate for double the capacity? Somebody make it make sense.

But it's all the DUPs fault sure.
