Election time or not this would be big.

A religious group whose patrons/followers attack a city, then said religious group wants to build next to ground zero of attack. News worthy.

In that case the next catholic church (or church from any christian sect) built beside a school or playground should be newsworthy.

No doubt you don't see this opposition as irrational. If so, I'd love to hear the rational basis for it. Because muslim trophy monuments and comparisons to memorials to the Nazis at Auschwitz certainly ain't it.

As for the catholic thing, of course its an idiotic comment, but it is no more (and IMO less) idiotic than objecting to the building of the mosque by this crowd because of 9/11. The catholic church collaborated in and covered up chronic hideous criminal behaviour by its members against children. How is this muslim group any more guilty by association?
