My family are considering swapping Sky for it's much cheaper alternative, BT Vision.  I was wondering if anyone's had any experience of BT Vision and their thoughts on it?
Has anyone made the move from Sky to BT Vision and do they regret doing so or was it a change for the better?

Your opinions would be gratefully received :)

highly recomnend it, make sure you get the on demand package

Have BT Vision myself and its a pretty good set up, nowhere near as many channels as Sky. It basically only has the freeview channels with the added bonus of being able to pause and record live tv and also the on demand service. It depends on how much you used your sky, your gonna miss sky sports a hell of a lot but you can still get ESPN for another tenner a month I think which shows Monday night football and the evening kickoff on a Saturday.

Only have the Kids package for the wee fella. £6.85 a month and it is very good.

The big difference between it and sky is basically that you have access to a library of  programmes can can be viewed at anytime. With sky you have to record all these programmes initially on sky+.

On the kids package there are about 100 different shows and the good thing is that once you select a certain programme it will normally give you access to a full series.

For something like this i would recommend it.

if sky psorts isn't already on it it will be soon.

there's a kick up about it and regulators which will hopefully make it cheaper.

Never had Sky but have had BT Vision for a year now and am happy with it, I have the bronze package with the film and sports packs which includes ESPN at no extra charge

have had the BT vision for near a year and a half. As someone said earlier, hasnt near the amount of channels as Sky (means less sh1te to flick through). think its a great job, recording , pausing etc.

ESPN is free once you pay a one off 11 quid for the viewing card (well it was during the setanta days)

i have the bronze package also, bundle includes movies and kids

Favourite feature is the TV on demand...there must be 50 odd box sets to choose from..the mentalist, desperate housewives, lost, 24 etc...all free

you needy make sure in an area with decent broadband speeds though

anyone know offhand if Sky Sports on BT Vision feeds through the braodband or the digital aerial? the reason i ask is that ESPN comes in through the broadband and you wouldnt describe it as High Defintion

cheers

Seriously considering switching from sky to bt vision. Only problem I can see right now is that at the minute, I can't get a freeview signal. Nothing at all. But according to the digital switchover website my postcode should have it.
I live in a block of 4 apartments and there's a built in aerial socket. Upon looking at the main aerial on the roof, it seems to be pointing in a different direction than all the other aerials in my street.
Can anyone help me out with the next step?
Do I need to get some sort of engineer out or can I try something simple to test it?

Did any of you see the new deal sky have out. For £19 a month you get Broadband, telephone (free evening and weekend calls) Sky TV (limited channels, not sure which ones) and sky+ (free). This seems a good deal although i can't see getting much more channels than whats available through the freeview
Be nice to the people you meet on the way up, because you may meet them on the way back down.
