Onto the main point...as I've said before many times I'm all for the NI team using a NI-specific anthem.

Look, I think that if the IFA agreed that the NI team would wear green, white and orange shirts, were sponsored by eirigi, played in Crossmaglen, stood to attention to the anthem 'Go on Home British Bastards' by Eire Og, provided half-time entertainment from the Ballymurphy Martyrs Flute Band and each goal was celebrated by the PA system playing "I would rather wear a turban than a sash" (to the tune of 'she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes') then there would still be some on this board that would call them Orange Bastards!

I couldn't give a fiddlers if they did all those things to reach out to nationalists. It's very def not a sectarian reason for saying that as i'm fiercely anti-sectarian. I simply cannot and will not support any team representing a six county state which I am opposed to the very existance of. And on a similar point, since when was this six county plastic state a "nation"? It is not a country and as such it should not have a "national" anthem.

Sorry Olaf, gonna have to call you on this. I had the glorious opportunity of watching NI from the kop. 2 things were notable, first is that there were numerous loyalist anthems being sung around me, by the vast majority- people I would understand others to refer to as 'scumbags'. I can be honest enough to say that i think the lads beside me twigged straight off that i was a taig, and  didnt give me any hassle, but i really did feel very nervous. The second thing I remember is that the ni subs were playing keepy up amongst themselves, and their record was 4...

2 things were notable, first is that there were numerous loyalist anthems being sung around me, by the vast majority- people I would understand others to refer to as 'scumbags'. I can be honest enough to say that i think the lads beside me twigged straight off that i was a taig, and  didnt give me any hassle, but i really did feel very nervous.

My experience over the last number of years has been somewhat dis-similar - but there you go.
