Ipad 3 coming next Wednesday.

is it not just the annoucement of the Ipad next Wednesday?

sooner the better for the release though.

Yeah but talk that it will be available immediately after the announcement.

What is the IPad3 meant to bring to the table over and above the IPad2?
I really dont get the whole apple fixation at all. Yes they look nice, but can you do anything with an IPad that you cant do with an Android tablet?
For the price of them you could buy a decent laptop!

Ok ok ok, you get pricey android tablets too....but, generally speaking you can buy cheap android tablets, which is what I was getting at. What functionality does the pricey IPad (or android) give you that the budget version doesn't (even though there is no such thing as a budget IPad)?
£480 quid would buy a quare laptop....and if I was going to spend that type of money I cant for the life of me see why I would buy a tablet over the laptop.
Maybe I'm missing something completely with them, that's all I'm trying to work out.

Full touchscreen HD display with a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536.
Lighter battery with a longer battery life.
Wireless charging technology, which will be able to charge the battery and transfer data wirelessly
New processor, 50% upgrade.

The year old iPad 2 compares favourably to the much newer Asus Transformer Prime.
This iPad 3 will stretch comfortably into the lead.  If you prefer a decent laptop, more power to you.
But I might be considering an iPad 3 to use in conjunction with my 3kg trusty laptop that has a 3hour battery life.

In your opinion?

There is absolutely no one in their right minds would put an Android tablet ahead of the iPad for one reason, the app selection in the Apple App store by far sh1ts all over Android Market Place. Also Ice Cream Sandwich is a complete dog unless you have the best hardware running it; it has still a long way to go and IMO Windows 8, even in it's present state, is better than Android.

Android for me too, it supports flash out of the box and is far less restrictive in terms of what apple won't let you do with your own kit.  A lot of 'experts' online are predicting that there will be more Andorid apps than apple ones by late summer.

On the negative side some of the cheaper Android devices are terrible, slow and poor quality touchscreens.  Also Apple vet their apps more closely which is something Android market could do with improving.

If you are in the market for a top quality tablet the Samsung galaxy is well worth a serious look.

As always it will be interesting to watch apple's annoucement to see what new additions they have added.

What budget 10 inch Android tablets would you recommend brick? Would be used just for general browsing and hooking up an external hard disk via USB to. If it could accept a wifi dongle that would be a bonus.

Is lack of Flash such a big negative anymore? Dedicated I player, Sky Go, Rte Player, 4 On Demand apps etc, video on bbc site now works on IOS devices. Flash is being discontinued on mobile devices anyway, a lot of sites are using HTML5 instead of Flash.

It was a valid negative against the IPad at a time but not anymore, and if IPads continue to sell as they do websites will ensure their content is available to the IOS platform.

Certainly flash is dying out but there are still a lot of sites which are slow to move to HTML5.  I don't want a device that isn't compatible with the whole web.

I have an iPad 2 and find the lack of flash compatability isn't much of an annoyance to be honest. Flash is becoming less common so the majority of video content out there can be viewed on an iPad. Obviously part of this is websites moving away from flash because of of all the IOS devices out there.
