Just got my renewal letter for Hastings car insurance. Just the small increase of 40% 😂

Just a note saying there's more claims in today's market that's why the price is going up.

Yet strangely so are profits

I think from your previous posting you're involved in law/courts David. Is this something that any political party/group actually pursues for consumers or is it an easy way to gather a few votes without really committing to doing anything?

Pearse Dogherty was bringing a lot of attention to it a few years back, not sure if any actual action was taken by government.

It's a huge issue and an absolute disgrace the money companies are making

Kinda. Most of those things have to be dealt with through the Ombudsman rather than courts but there's the odd thing. I have a particular bug bear with insurance companies who try to have the PPS prosecute people for no insurance because the insurance company wants to get away with unlawfully cancelling a policy. I take lots of cases on that.

Had a multicar and house policy with Admiral. It went from 1600 to 2200 with no explanation given.
I ended up breaking up the policy and getting all from different companies for about 1800.

Our oldest is doing their test soon so looking to get their first car.

I know insurance will not be cheap but are there any specific makes / models better to focus on so the insurance will be on lower side of the scale e.g. a lot of youngsters seeem to be driving Seat Leons.
