Easyinsure are legit alright. McClarty's in Coleraine is their head office. As was mentioned though I would check who is underwriting it but I know they used to have a deal with Markerstudy or Zenith so I'd think it's with them. They are both reputable and Caulfield's would use them also but probably wouldn't have as good a deal.

Been insured with McClarty's for years. Been pretty decent.

The wife's policy is up for renewal and most quotes are coming in over the 500 mark. I then tried 25plus.ie and it was €200 cheaper. Just wondering has anyone down south used them and made a claim from them?

My insurance with Quinn expires in a few weeks and Liberty are offering quotes in place of Quinn.  They just sent me a letter with a quote for third party fire and theft cover for £130!

1st central for me, 2 litre jeep only £259 with 3 years no claims, I've 3 points on licence, don't really know if that puts it up
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

I renewed my insurance last week with Kwikfit insurance for £207, they came back the cheapest via confused.com

A friend told me under no circumstances take the legal cover from the insurance company when taking out an insurance policy as it's a rip off.  Other companies specialise in legal cover and can offer it for a fraction of the cost.  The insurance company wanted £39.50 for the legal cover, got it for £9.99 from another website.

Also, I routed the car insurance policy via www.topcashback.co.uk, which saved another 20% ... so effectively got the fully comp insurance for £170 or so.

Anyone any idea how the likes of topcashback.co.uk can get these discounts and pass them on?

Does anybody here work in insurance or could yous answer this question if you know it??I have a car in Scotland for work,it's only a run around so I insured it third party with liberty, for someone else to drive it I would need to be fully comp,is this right?i rang liberty and the young fella didn't really know,he said he thought it was more to do with the person I was letting drive the car that his insurance should be fully comp, this probably makes no sense, but I was going to give a fella a lend of the car for the weekend when I go home, don't want to end in a handling if he's stopped and the two of us get done

supersarsfields

The person driving the car needs to have fully comp insurance of his own. Then he can drive the car on his third party extension as long as you have the car insured on its own policy.
Of course the cover will only be third party.

screenexile

Make sure the person driving is over 25 as most insurers will grant 3rd party extension to young drivers.

That said, you can add someone else to your policy.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Cheers, think that's sorta what the young chap said,it's only for the weekend so no point adding him on just for that,I asked about changing to fully comp and he said that I can only do that when the policy is up for renewal

Hoping someone can help me. I'm gone f**king crazy ringing different insurance companies and I can't get a straight answer.

I'm after buying a Ford Kuga(collecting it on Saturday), its actually a  Ford Kuga Utility which means its classed as a commercial vehicle but it has the same number of seats as a normal Kuga ie 2 in the front 3 in the back. The reason its a commercial is the middle seat has no seat belts and through whatever loophole there is in the system that means I can buy it as a commercial and claim the VAT back.

The problem I'm having is the insurance companies will only insure it as a private vehicle. The question I can't get answered though is does this mean I have to tax it private as well?
And if so how does that affect me as regards claiming VAT back on the purchase price?
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

If you tax and insurance it as private then it can't be a commercial vehicle by definition. If its taxed and insured as private then you couldn't legally and from an insurance point, use it for work. You would't be allowed claim the VAT on it then as it's not used for business purposes. One of the 4 qualifiers to deem it commercial is "Is the vehicle to be used for the purposes of a VAT-registered business?"

It will be used for a VAT registered business. The Insurance companies though when they hear its a 4 seat commercial won't insure it as commercial,at least the 3 or 4 different place  I rang told me that.
There are loads of these yokes on the roads,Mitsubishi and Land Rover also have 4 seat commercials, they must be getting them insured somewhere.
The only reason I went with the Kuga Utility was so I could reclaim the VAT on the purchase amount.

The key word is "purposes" it must be used for the purposes of the business. It it's insured and taxed privately the it couldn't be used for the purposes of the business. I'm coming at this only from the VAT side of things.
