NME's top 50 albums of the Noughties

i would totally agree with the top 2. NME is a magazine for indie music and there's no doubt Is This It? and Up the Bracket influenced indie music in a massive way for the 5 or 6 years after they came out. sure every indie band that came out after that was playing guitars and trying to be the strokes or the libertines - franz ferdinand, the kooks, razorlight, arctic monkeys, the holloways, the courteeners, the view, the enemy, i could go on forever. those two albums definitely cast the longest shadow over the decade. think jamie t should have definitely been in there

I have quite a few of these 

Sufjan Stevens or The Shins would be the pick of them for me, but not a great list.

Jeez lads it is just someones opinion. Personally I'd be happy with QOTSA, LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, Kid A, White Blood Cells and Muse but I don't pay much attention to mainstream reviews as they have quite a narrow musical focus. How come Boyzone didn't get in?

I personally go much more for the Phantom version (given that I only have only 9 of the NME albums  and 24 of the phantom listing) I would also agree with comments about that Junkie waster being very over rated. Even though I have the album and like it, very surprised at how high QOTSG are in both polls. There was a lot of "controversy" about Florence featuring so high in the phantom poll (which was no surprise to me as it is current and it is a good album).

My favs from the phantom list would be 1,2,4,9,11,14,29,30,31,34,41,42,44,46.

Of the 15-20 albums on the list that I've heard, they're right about the top spot. There's not one poor track on is this it.

there was an article on bbc NI website from gary lighbody saying that NME hate Snow Patrol so its not surprising they are not included.

Seen him at the Picnic few years back-puts on a serious live show. Brilliant. If your in to that sort of music we are spoilt for choice at the mo IMO. Boysnoize,Japanese Popstars,Digitalism,The Field,Erol Alkan

90s were much better and that list should have The Bends & Achtung Baby! in it.

Louth Exile's list is far better than the NME rubbish although I may just be getting old.
