Final Whistle

A woman has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following an explosion near the home of a police officer in east Belfast.

The Ambulance Service were called to Kingsdale Park in the Kings Road area of the city on Friday at 0730 BST.

An Ambulance Service spokesperson said the woman suffered slight redness to her arm and ringing in her ears.

Some reports say the explosion happened in the vicinity of a car. Police have cordoned off the area.

People in the area reported hearing a "loud bang" around 0700 BST.

Let's cut to the chase here. Was this someone trying to kill a policeman or not?

The title suggests it is but the report tells us nothing.

Final Whistle

No, the explosion was intended to scratch her itchy bum hole. ::)

Nolan show Reports Non-Life Threatening Injuries.

Could have been halloween fireworks for all we know. The BBC report isn't much better with it's unconfirmed reports.

It was a valid question - slight redness to the arm and a ringing in the ears?? sounds like a firework to me, and a weak one at that. Could well be that a woman got 'injured' by a firework, reporter mentioned she was a cop and the rest was done by sensationalists i.e you. Zapatistas q was the one I had in my mind when I read the thread.

It's becoming a bit more clear now. The BBC have updated their report including a picture.

Sinister enough looking.  A lucky lady I would say.

Just on the news that it is thought that the lady is the wife or girlfriend of a peeler.

Peelers have just stated that it was an explosive device designed to cause injury or death .
