I'll assume that Hunt will be an below average footballer now and will be nailed on numerous occasions. I'd expect Dunphy to bring up the Cech incident and comment on Hunts intentions in it.

I'm not a great Dunphy fan, I think he tries to be controversial in order to get people talking about him. I'd say he's laughing his hole off and relishing the attention.

I enjoy Dunphy to be honest probably becuse I'm not really a soccer fan -  but it's great entertainment when he's on  - the show would be a lot poorer if he wasn't on it.

Dunphy called R Ferdinand a "tr**p" did he not and gave plenty of personal abuse out about C Ronaldo, Niall Quinn etc.  So he's got to expect that personal abuse will be thrown his way.  Fair play to Hunt, its alright for us we can sit and laugh at teh shite he comes out with but it must be hurtful for the players who have worked hard all campaign and have to listen to his crap when they have done so well.

Both of these contradictory views were delivered with with the usual loud, blunt bluster. Looking for attention.

He must be a very insecure man, despite all the money he's made out of being an entertaining loudmouth. And it's funny at this stage to watch him trip over himself deferring to John, agreeing (too much) with John, lauding John as a 'great player' etc. etc. Giles may be sour and hard to impress, but at least he's calm, insightful and fairly consistent.

Farrandeelin, Ireland probably should have seen out the win, but if every team of average footballers was capable of playing complete shut-out football then the games just wouldn't be worth attending. I'd credit the Italians with a brilliant breakaway goal consisting of three perfect passes.

Dunphy though, who spent most of his life as a mediocre footballer, should have a better understanding of just how much effort it takes for mediocre players to compete with classy players. Instead of hammering Ireland as disgraceful, the truth about that match is that Ireland drew with a team infinitely better than them. That deserves credit.

  some of those comments by Dunphy are hilarious and actually quite articulate as well but every now and then he goes to far, Saturday being a prime example. He needs to be told off and given a right kick up the arse. To say Irelands performance was shameful is a disgracefull comment in itself. Ireland are a completely inferior team to Italy footballing wise and for Ireland to get a result against a team like that they would have to be very disciplined and have a huge workrate. And thats what Ireland were like..their level of hunger was very admirable. Hunt was right to say what he did about Dunphy..

Agreed, I just think Hunt could have come up with something better.  Dunne is an embarassment to the nation in my eyes, when you see him on TV he just looks like a tr**p.  Its the 21st Century yet he looks like someone who would be better placed in a bookies in Donemana in 1972.  He offers no credible insight into matches he is supposedly providing analysis on, and further embarasses himself when on one of his crusades against a player(s).  Ronaldo was his prime target for years and it got pretty embarassing with Dunphy saying he was a terrible footballer week in week out over the past 2 years he had at United.  He also makes a regular attack on Roy Keane, yet 3/4 years ago used to lick his backside every week, what happened there again?  Its a disgrace and shame that there is people within RTE who would pay such a fool close to 1 million euro a year.  He never shuts up about Andy Reid yet never provides adequate reasons why the fella carried 2 stone with him throughout his career - he lost the weight in the summer and Dunphy reckons he deserves a medal.  It doesn't say much about Reids attitude pre summer 2009.  The Irish Star on Monday has another fool writing for it in the shape of Pat Dolan - some of the stuff he comes out with is almost as bad.

I not a huge Dunphy, but calling someone a skinny little rat is poor IMO. No one ever criticised any of these players personnally just there football performance. Calling Dunphy that is personal and I think uncalled for. Criticising Dunphys analysis would be better.

I like the fact that they aren't scared to say what they think, rather than just sitting there all nice like the BBC and Sky, however do you not remember Dunphy getting personal over the Keane leaving Utd saga, in which he announced an English journalist had no right to question Keane cos the fella left his wife and kids and ran off with 'a young one' as he announced on live TV, far worse than what anyone has ever said about Dunphy.

Dunphy had a vested interest in Keane, they had a 'bromance' going on for a while because all Dunphy did was kiss Keane's arse for many years, Keane could do nothing wrong and that quote about little, although factually correct was unprofessional, emotional and was deviod of any semblance of journalistic integrity.

I wonder what his view of Keane is nowadays?
