watch out for this Down team this year under James McCartan and think they could beat armagh no problem

i see he is taking a fresh approach and searching for more talent around the county

believe it or not the talent is actually there in the Down team they just need the right men to run the team and they have that in wee james, mc ilver and tally

Its just that nobody has seen this talent yet outside of Down. Downs performances in the last 7 or 8 years in the championship have been dismal to put it mildly. It wasn't just the teams that beat them but the manner of their defeats against teams like Meath, Fermanagh, Sligo, Wicklow that proved what a mediocre team Down really are.

A lot of blind optimism in Down is due to the fact that Martin Clarke has returned to be their saviour. However to pile the pressure on a player yet to kick a ball in anger at senior level is grossly unfair. The reality is that Down still have a poor defence, still rely on Gordon to carry midfield and Coulter is now past his best. Yet the delusions of grandeur amongst Down fans is unbelievable.

That draw effort thing is on the night.

If antrim can get to the ulster final- so can down. All that talent going to waste.

8-25pm to 9-00pm on RTÉ2 though it won't really be on that long as there will be advertisements on before the show at  9-00pm in which a family is attacked by someone using grenades.

Very true, Down should play some of their U-21 team that beat us in Longford this year in next year's championship. Down always seem to come out of nowher to win AIs, might just happen in a few years time as well.

Down could surprise a few people despending on the draw.

As for ourselves, it'll be tough to reach the highs of last year. Want to avoid Tyrone and Donegal in Ulster, but every game will be tough. As someone said, we'll be missing Niall Mckeever in the midfield area, we don't have a lot of other options there. We may have to move Michael McCann out. Tomas McCann could also be away depending on how his trial goes.

Don't think CJ will have a huge impact if he comes back. Its shown before him and Cunningham struggle to play on the same team, they can't win their own ball. Kelly would be a great addition to an already strong half-back line though, or another option in half-forward.

QuoteDown always seem to come out of nowher to win AIs,

Well they have successfully positioned themselves at nowhere, all they have to do now is come.
