Wolfe Tones meet O'Mahonys in Meath SFC semi-final replay today. Seneschalstown await the winners.

Tomes won 0-11 to 0-8.

Were the tones contesting all Ireland intermediate two years ago?

They won All-Ireland Junior in 2004. Don't think they progressed in Intermediate.

They came from Junior in 2003 to be Meath Senior champions in 2006.

That's impressive. Am I right that it's a very rural Irish speaking community outside Navan? I think I was in it many years ago.

Thats correct Zap.  The Meath Gaeltacht is the smallest Gaeltacht area in the country and consists of two adjacent villages of Rath Cairn and Baile Ghib.

Hardy

That's right. Cian Ward's club.

Why?
O'Mahony's to appeal semi-final loss
20 October 2009

Next Sunday's Meath SFC final between Wolfe Tones and Seneschalstown is in danger of not going ahead amid reports that Navan O'Mahony's are poised to lodge an objection to their semi-final replay defeat to the Tones last Sunday.

It's understood that the executive committee of the deposed champions met last night to discuss the possibility of objecting, having played last Sunday's game under protest.

The problem stems from extra-time being played in the drawn game between the sides, during which Wolfe Tones midfielder Stephen Corrigan received a straight red card. Corrigan was set to miss the replay, but Wolfe Tones successfully appealed to the Leinster Council on the basis that extra-time should not have been played in the drawn game as prior consent had not been sought.

It is the latest controversy to rock the Meath SFC, with the issue of relegation also shrouded in doubt. Rathkenny beat Walterstown after extra-time in a relegation play-off, but the latter successfully appealed that the extra periods should not have been played.

If the county final doesn't go ahead this weekend, Meath may not be represented in this year's Leinster club championship. The Royal County champions are due to play either Portlaoise (Laois) or Mattock Rangers (Louth) on November 8.

It's "Iarbheo" as opposed to "Beo."

When is the Galway hurling final, Portumna v Loughrea? It could be an interesting affair.

Do TG4 plan to show it after the watershed?

I heard that O'Mahoney's have withdrawn their appeal. Not sure how true that is. County board needs a good shake up to be honest.
