Monaghan SFC Final

Latton v Clontibret, Sunday 27th Sept. Clones

Will Latton give Clontibret a good game? I suppose they will considering they are in the Final but was not expecting this to be the case.

They beat us in the championship already this year, so it's more a question of will we give Latton a good game!  ;)

Who would be favorites in Armagh? Could we be looking at an all City final?

pearseog

Pearse Og - 2/5
Granemore - 5/1
Clan na Gael - 9/1
Harps - 10/1
Clann Eireann - 10/1

we've obviously been put in as favourites because we beat cross and were the team that was knocking on the door this past few years but granemore have a good young team with some county players and the harps on their day could beat us. they'l have to get past clans and granemore for that to happen. we got clann eireann in the next round who are the surprise package of the championship and could cause an upset if ryan henderson brings his shooting boots. he's the player that scored 4-03 against wexford in the league

And they're the reigning champs too.
I'm a bit removed from club football in Monaghan, living outside of the county, but will try and make it down to this one.

Exactly, don't like all this talk of us being favourites and Latton underdogs, the results and subsequent talk after the two semi-finals will suit Latton to a tee, them going in under the radar after a narrow win in a poor game.

I knew Clontibret were on a good run in recent years and was not sure which county players Latton had on their panel as they would be one of the unfashionable county champs then I suppose, like St Pats in Fermanagh

Clontibret suffered from a bit of complacency last year and they messed about with the positions in the first half of the semi final against Magheracloone. They deserve to be favourites, because if they do click and are played in their correct positions, they are the better team.

Louth Final penciled in for 4th October:
Mattock Rangers v Cooley Kickhams or Glyde Rangers

Meath Championship still only at the group stages, last round of group games this weekend.

Fermanagh SFC final this Saturday evening in Brewster under lights.
Roslea v Derrygonnelly.
Roslea haven't won a title in donkey's years, maybe even since McGinnity's time in 82 (not sure), and it really looks like their year. Derrygonnelly though lost last year's final too so won't lack motivation. They're still looking over their shoulders at relegation in the league too, however.

Lights on for 2009 Fermanagh County Final
from hoganstand

Saturday night will be the highlight of the club action in Fermanagh GAA as we reach our County final, up for grabs is the Quinn Insurance Senior Football Championship and Donn Carragh U16 football Championship titles.

In the 125th Anniversary of the GAA, it is sure to be a very unique occasion in Fermanagh, the Senor Championship final being held for the first time under lights in the fantastic Brewster Park, Enniskillen. With both Derrygonnelly Harps and Roslea Shamrocks have reached both the Senior and U16 finals, it is an occasion for both clubs to be very proud off. At Half time in the Senior final, Fermanagh GAA will honour a group of men who brought great pride to the county 50 years ago, we celebrate the Fermanagh team who, in 1959 won the All Ireland Junior Football championship, the first all Ireland Fermanagh won, beating Kerry in the home final then London in the final proper.

The final having originally being fixed for Sunday, was moved forward to take place under lights to the Saturday night, as our Fermanagh Ladies reached the All Ireland Intermediate final this Sunday. All in Fermanagh GAA extend our very best wished to the ladies in the final and look forward to a great weekend of sporting action.

Path to the Quinn Insurance Senior football Championship final
Roslea have emerged in 2009 as the team to beat in both league and championship, having impressive wins over Teemore and last year's champions St.Patrick's. In the first of the semi-finals Roslea faced the 2007 champions Newtownbutler. In a close encounter Roslea fought back from being two points down at half time, producing a strong second half performance to run out 1-9 to 1-6 winners. For Roslea county stars Peter and James Sherry are leading by example but it is the talent of the Quigley brothers Sean and especially Seamus in fantastic form that has brought a spark to the championship. Roslea manager Peter McGinnity will have his charges fully prepared in their aim to claim the New York Cup for the first time since 1986.

Derrygonnelly have reached the county final for a second year in a row beating Tempo in the opening game and were somewhat of surprise winners over Devenish in the second semi-final, but fully deserve their place in the final. Derrygonnelly produced a great team performance to run out easy winners over Devenish on a score line of 2-9 to 0-5. Derrygonnelly having a very experienced team with players like Kevin Cassidy and Martin Greene playing their part, young Ryan Jones in top form at midfield and Paul Ward back to form, having an eye for the goals. Managers John McGovern and Sean Flanagan will have prepared their team and hoping to get their hand on the New York Cup this year as they did in 204, after missing out last year.

The lights of Brewster Park will only add to what will be a sure to be very intriguing encounter between Derrygonnelly Harps and Roslea Shamrocks in the Quinn Insurance Senior Football Championship Final. Who will get their hands on the New York Cup is anyone's guess, but the Lights are on for the championship final!

Kildare are only at the quarter-final stage this week-end

Clane v Celbridge
Sarsfields v Suncroft
Moorfield v Leixlip
St Laurances v Athy

Semi's the following week  I think

Sarsfields, Moorefield, St Laurances and Celbridge to progress

You were right on Moorefield, Larries and Celbridge progressing Dinny but Suncroft putting out the Sash was a big shock. I'd love to see them going all the way for Anthony Rainbow and Killian Brennan but the Moores will be well warned now before the semi-final even though they were poor enough in getting past Leixlip by all accounts.

Looking like a Celbridge Moorefield final at this stage and I'd fancy Celbridge to put back-to-back titles together now. They might be missing the two McEvoys from last year but young Brophy missed most of the latter stages last year and he's a big addition to their defence. I think Moorefield are too reliant on Paddy Murray for scores up front and it could cost them.
