Yes and no.

I completely agree the ambition is domestic dominance and Europe is nice and funded accordingly.

But pumping money the club doesn't have into chasing Europe isn't wise either.

Needs to be something in the middle.
reality is the club have money but would rather pay corporation tax on profits, £33.6million in 10 years ( £11.5m last year in 2025)
70million in the bank
the stadium is decrepid
team is awful
and fans at at the end of their tether and all the communication a fan gets is crap about new kit etc

We need to ask Tony Fearon what is going on.

Celtic are monitoring/weighing up a bid for 'insert name'. Then a week later some other team signs him.

I don't disagree, the stadium needs huge work.

My point is spending huge money chasing Europe is mental talk.

They have 60k at every home game. Celtic should have a bigger aim then just being the best in Scotland. They messed up last year in the CL qualifiers by not having a good squad in places.
They dont have to buy 20m  pound players, but a few under 10m is achievable.

Look at Bodo Glimt a much smaller club  performing higher in Europe .

Nobody is asking to spend massive money chasing Europe. A respectable effort every season would be acceptable. With group stages in all competitions there is plenty of scope. Celtic could be a Scottish equivalent of Sporting CP if someone at the top had a modicum of ambition. Unfortunately, the Desmond family have no such ambition for Celtic. It's a shame and a disgrace.

There is no chance of Celtic even dipping into the 70m +30m funds that are already banked, in order to purchase new players. There is also no danger of them even spending more than the money that will earned on the transfers. What most folk want is that they sign the players they need in good time before the CL play off game.

But some people keep repeating the refrain of the perils of going into debt when there is 'dangerous' 'reckless' talk  of spending all the money that will be earned on transfers on buying much needed replacement players.

Depends what you're chasing. We know we won't win the champions league but we should be targeting qualifying for it

rodney trotter

Celtic could lose another 5 or 6 players before the season starts. Engels will go for over 20, Maeda is in talks with Ipswich. Nygren has Premier League interest. Hatate will leave

Qualifying for the Champions league is worth up to 20 million and then whatever else. A win is worth 2.1m. Qualifying for the Europa is under 5m. They should be aiming to be in the CL every year thats not being over ambitious.

Unfortunately Alistair Johnston could be gone shortly too.

He had a very good World Cup with Canada and is a solid full back. He also has a good age profile.

Could get £15m for him.

The problem is most Celtic fans renewed their season books and now the Celtic Board are laughing at them. Making mugs out of them.

I'd be happy spending the money we get of players sales this summer and not touching the existing bank balance...We'll get to spend 25% of that

Jansen brought Larsson and Lambert. Vengloš pulled Moravčík out of nowhere. O'Neill added Sutton, Lennon and Thompson. Strachan found Nakamura and Boruc. Lennon brought Hooper, Wanyama, Forster and Van Dijk. Rodgers had Dembélé and Édouard. Ange brought Kyogo, Jota, Hatate and O'Riley.

Those rabbits from the hat have all but disappeared, not only is it gonna be tight to retain the league but the whole thing is going to be a total zzzzzzz snoozefest as they sleepwalk into a disasterclass fighting it out for third place

At this stage Bodø/Glimt are a better proposition for any player with a desire to push on
