We didn't have a bad season, assuming fintona win championship we will go up through second place. Anywhere giving odds for fintona to win junior all Ireland? Hearing they have key man Cormac Watson back from injury and starting to pick up form which of course should be a massive boost in their push for all Ireland

hate to tell ye but stewartstown are beating fintona in the final

It's hard to see, look at the turnover of players for stewartstown in last 3-4 years, the quality of the players lost since their junior all Ireland run hasn't been replaced. Fintona seem good, but it's hard to judge them until they come up against a strong junior team in the provincial series as Junior in Tyrone this year is overall very poor.

Is there a chance junior has just looked worse than previous years because fintona is so much further ahead?

No doubt Fintona are well ahead of the other teams. Glenelly finished 2nd in the league and will most likely piggy back up off a Fintona win. Their results in intermediate next year will more or less confirm the quality of the chasing pack. I would suspect they will get 15 tankings, and be back down to 3.

Glenelly will be eyeing up the likes of Kildress, but other than that, I'd say they lose every game, max two points, and straight back down again. Stewartstown would have given Division 2 a better go, but they couldn't get the job done on that fateful evening in Plumbridge.
Fintona, Kildress, Drumquin, Killeeshil, Rock, Greencastle, Aghyaran, Gortin - these are all games that Glenelly could get league points in. Not to many teams go down from Intermediate with two or less points.
They could but they won't, only chance they have of getting points is if a team have 3/4 of their men away or they don't field, massive step up from 3 till 2 outside fintona the rest aren't up to it. This will be shown next year when both teams that have went down, Aghaloo & Clogher will be at the top of the league next year. Drumragh have fell from grace badly.
drumragh always seem to have a lot of injuries which affects them badly never having a regular 15 out. Glenelly would be the probably be the 5th best team in junior, if fintona win the championship there would be 2/3 other teams that would give a better account of themselves in intermediate next year than the plum. bad league form let the other sides down

If we're 5th best team and we came 2nd what way does that work? Reading above posts also think we could target Omagh aswell.
Fintona will not be able to replicate the season that cookstown have had this year especially with the fact of young Welsh's dodgy knee

glenelly would get hammered by moortown never mind what omagh would do to them

Yes, i heard he was lording it in Philly with another few Tyrone men. A fox in the box! He will be back stronger than ever for fintona next year.

ShutterinbyDayGAAbyNight

Genuinely don't understand the fintona glaze. Their in the top 10 teams in Tyrone membership wise, have been lingering in around junior for the past 15+ years bar a short lived stint in intermediate in 2024. That's a seriously impressive level of underachievement

UtilityMan

County board really putting the hand in with the 4 single semi finals next weekend. No reason why there couldn't have been at least one double header. Over the next 2 weekends you're looking at
4 senior x £11
2 intermediate x £10
2 junior x £9
= £82 roughly - that is over half the season ticket cost, glad I bought it now in hindsight but didn't expect that many standalones.

No shame, they have the paw out literally every direction possible...logistically it's a push to get around all the games as well. A double header at £14 will probably get 1.5x the attendance of 2 single matches at other ends of the county, as gaels 'on the fence' see it as better value and not everyone has a Range Rover with a diesel card to tip around in.

I know previous 'regular' attenders of seasons gone by have stopped going completely. Going to all 4 quarter finals for example is not exactly realistic if you have a family or work away through the week for the Monday night games.

Ive bought some half time draw tickets in my time and never once came up with the winning ticket. Fr Ted no 11 springs to mind!

The modern ticket seller doesn't mess about with the wee card yoke! Would never begrudge a GAA Club selling tickets for their own development but, a thankless task, but when you take a step back and look at the club facilities in Tyrone you can't help but be in awe. A lot of hard work achieved that.

TYRONE CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS

SENIOR QUARTERFINALS

Edendork v Clonoe

Both sides impressed going forward in the opening round, but Clonoe's 2-23 against Coalisland was arguably the performance of the weekend. Edendork showed character to overcome Ardboe, although conceding 2-12 will be a concern against an even more dangerous Clonoe attack. Clonoe have returned to senior football with no fear, and if they start quickly, I can see them winning this one comfortably.

Clonoe by 6.

Carrickmore v Donaghmore

Donaghmore were very impressive against Eglish, scoring 0-24, but this represents a massive step up. Carrickmore showed exactly what they are about when they battled past Dromore. They might not always play the prettiest football, but their physicality, championship experience and refusal to panic make them extremely difficult to eliminate. Donaghmore will push them all the way, but Carrickmore should drag the game into the sort of battle that suits them.

Carrickmore by 2.

Omagh v Loughmacrory

Omagh cruised past Moortown, but they will face a completely different level of opposition here. Loughmacrory were given a serious scare by Dungannon in the original game before producing a much more controlled performance in the replay. The defending champions have the stronger structure and know how to manage championship games. Omagh may stay with them during the opening half, but I expect Loughmacrory to take control after the break and win well.

Loughmacrory by 6.

Errigal Ciaran v Trillick

Without question, the tie of the round. Trillick survived a massive scare against Galbally, edging through by a point despite conceding three goals. They cannot afford to be as open against an Errigal side that looked sharp and composed when beating Killyclogher. Trillick will try to slow the game down and turn it into a physical battle, but Errigal appear to have greater attacking depth and a stronger bench.

Errigal Ciaran by 3.

INTERMEDIATE SEMIFINALS

Rock v Naomh Eoghan

Rock are experienced, physical and always dangerous in knockout football, but Naomh Eoghan enter this semifinal as the Division Two league champions. They have proven themselves as the most consistent team in the division and will carry serious confidence into this game. Rock will attempt to slow the contest down and make it physical, but Naomh Eoghan have the quality and momentum to take control. The league champions should book their place in the final.

Naomh Eoghan by 4.

Cookstown v Pomeroy

This has all the makings of a proper championship battle. Cookstown possess plenty of attacking quality and will look to move the ball quickly before Pomeroy can settle into their defensive shape. Pomeroy, however, bring physicality, experience and the ability to grind out difficult results. Very little should separate the teams entering the closing stages, but Pomeroy look slightly better equipped to manage the decisive moments.

Pomeroy by 2.

JUNIOR SEMIFINALS

Tattyreagh v Fintona

With Tattyreagh losing Darcy for the semifinal, it feels like everyone has written them off before a ball has even been thrown in. Fintona will understandably enter as favourites, but championship football rarely follows the script. I can't remember the last time these two sides met in a championship semifinal, and for it to be played in Carrickmore makes it a strange but very intriguing fixture.

The key for Tattyreagh will be keeping McGillion and Colton quiet. Colton was successfully shut down against Drumragh, but McGillion is a different type of player and could be much more difficult to contain. Tatts will need a massive defensive performance, but if they remain in the contest entering the final ten minutes, all the pressure will be on Fintona. This is where I'm predicting the upset.

Tattyreagh by 1.

Stewartstown v Castlederg

Castlederg have done brilliantly to reach the semifinal and will bring plenty of energy and intensity, but Stewartstown look like the stronger and more experienced side. They possess greater attacking quality and have several players capable of producing important scores when the game becomes tight. Castlederg should make it competitive during the first half, but Stewartstown will eventually take control and pull clear after the break.
