New format for leagues

CCC chairman Ciaran McLaughlin has revealed that there will be a new league format introduced for the 2009 campaign.

The new format will see the leagues begin in early April, while there will be a break for a three week holiday in July, which coincides with the All-Ireland qualifiers.

The league will also see teams with county players drawn against each other, while teams with no county stars will be place in a different group.

Three 16-team leagues is the best format according to the delegates at a recent CCC meeting and the aim of this is not to have club teams going long periods without matches.
