Ger McCarthy will be free by the weekend?

Steve Staunton was saying on Goals on Sunday that he's looking to return to management....

ONeill

Guus Hiddink? He'd love to succeed where Scolari failed.

Meanwhile Mourinho edges towards another title in a third national league.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

This job is going to Zola. Don't be surprised if he is appointed by the end of the week.

I was sure he would go in the summer but this is quick. Will be interesting to see who comes in. I expect Rafa to go in the summer so maybe Roman is moving now to try and secure the best manager available before Liverpool get him?

ildanach

I read somewhere 5 or six weeks ago that he was going to be sacked and that they were lining up keane to replace him but i thought it was bull sh*t. maybe there is some truth in it after all
Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

anportmorforjfc

he still had a (very small) chance of winning the treble and he gets sacked.

one for the road

According to Sky Sports News, a double team of Avram Grant as coach and Hiddink as Director of Football is top of the shortlist.

Square Ball

I find it hard to believe that they have done this without sounding out people that they want

Crazy stuff altogether. Just 7 months after sacking Grant despite an excellent record in charge, they get rid of a genuine top manager over a few bad results while still in the hunt for 3 trophies. No decent manager with any sense of pride should touch them with a bargepole. Hiddink or Rijkaard sounds pausible. Was listening to 5live there and a Chelsea fan wanted Steve Clarke or John Terry. He also blamed Scolari was changing the "spine" of the team from English to Portugese and citing the sales of Wright-Phillips and Wayne Bridge as Scolari's biggest errors.  ::)
As I dream about movies they won't make of me when I'm dead
