Is there an argument that Liverpool would be better off with 60-70mill for rebuilding and no Torres/Gerrard? Seems Meireles settling into CM very nicely.

Torres seems v unsettled and while Gerrard would be a loss he seems to almost negatively affect some of the other players these days. Maybe they feel he will bail them out every game and they only take responsibility when he's not there? Given his age and Torres attitude it may be time to cash in and buy 5-6 quality players to make a team rather than a supporting cast.

Liverpool have been crying out for more world class players to add to Gerrard and Torres over the last few years. If you have the calibre of player in your squad of either of these two, you would be mad to let them go. The problem has been the mediocre 4-5mil players bought who have added nothing to the squad only a higher wage bill. We need a shrewd spender who knows the areas that need improved and go out and get their men. These new additions together with the likes of meireles, lucas, cole, agger, torres and gerrard as well as younger players such as Pacheco, Eccleston, Suso, Shelvey etc should make up the bulk of the squad. Fair enough if torres comes out and says he wants to leave there is not much we can do but to just cash in on him because of 'body language' would be mad. Think Gerrard is nailed on to the Anfield turf like Carra, he wont go anywhere now I feel! Wouldnt want him to either, the man is a legend!

Gerrard, Carragher & Torres all played in this fixture last season & lost 3-1

You would get no money for Gerard these days and he wouldn't leave in any event.  Nice to be proved wrong again and you have to say it is good that Hodgson has faith in Babel and he is paying it back in spades.  He is starting to show glimpses of what he can do and it is related of course to him playing in his favoured position.  N'Gog is getting stronger all the time.  The performance has to be seen though through the eyes of a dreadful Villa side, no leadership or threat and the lack of a squad is being badly shown up.  Anyone who calls for O'Neill as the Liverpool manager should view the current Villa squad as a snap shot of why he should never be let through the Shankley Gates.

Best of luck to Nando!

Transfer list them in the morning....

Im sure the villa team was quite different as well!

Villa are really struggling. A very leaky defence, a youthful midfield who have a lack of strength and leadership combined with a real absence of a goal scoring threat. It's great to see some young players getting a chance but because of injuries villa are now reliant on these young shoulders.

The worst part form me is the form of the four defenders who would be IMO first choice.

Great counter attacking goal! Well done maxi.

Good to see Johnson running at defenders again. Could have had a goal there.

Roy's pool only 10 points behind the league leaders now! the same as Rafas Inter.
