i play fifa 09 online

I play online - have you noticed really bad lag online from last weekend?

Its got virtually unplayable albeit not as bad as last years Pro Evo but it's really annoying at the moment as I though EA had nailed the online gameplay.

noticed it these past few weeks, its take ages to get a quick ranked match and the connection gets lost loads!!!

Seriousy, where would you take an xbox to get it looked at?

Is it the red rings GAA? I think there is a lifetime gurantee on them if it is the rings.

Aye, its the red rings - what do i do with it?

Got it friday, haven't had much time to play it though. Really good so far, got good reviews and only 27 quid too so worth a look at.

I'm sick waiting on the price of the PS3 to come down, thinking of taking the plunge towards the xbox, what's the difference between the premium one and the elite, is it just the memory?

and I take it everyone here would recommend it over the ps3?

Memory and Elite includes a HDMI cable also, I think.

I personally would go for the bigger hard drive, especially with an increase in downloadable content and HD movies. I also prefer to install my games on the hard drive too (Final Fantasy XIII is rumored to be multiple discs too - so i'd much prefer to add it to the hard drive) as it runs quieter.

IMHO it's a better buy than the PS3 and I have both. I hardly switch on the PS3 compared to the XBox and XBox live is so much better a product than PSNetwork, people will always pay for a better product. Graphics wise there is no real difference, well none that some of the Sony fan boys on here would be able to notice and the so called "Sony Cell super processor" and the Xbox processor are both designed by IBM and based on the same initial processing core. In fact quite a few of games look better on the xbox and run at higher resolution.
If its a games system you want, the superior catalogue of games on the XBox makes it the logical choice. If you want a blu ray player too, then possibly consider the PS3 but it is rumored that sony will be releasing a PS3 without blu ray in order to drop the price and thus compete with MS and Nintendo. There are also very few games companies developing games exclusively for blu ray due to the increased licensing costs, development costs ect... Personally in the current financial climate games studios will be reluctant to develop titles to exclusively take advantage of this feature, especially when it's not needed (downloadable content is the future).

Just call Microsoft. They should replace no problem, I think they even send out the posting box or something.

thanks.
Not fussed on bluray.  Dont know about the bigger memory, do all the downloading I want through the computer.  The main thing that attracts me to the xbox is the price, reasonable, compared to 300 quid on a ps3.

Pints I take it you're a bit like me? Play the odd time and not really into eg don't understand all this downlaodable content, streaming etc. If so, get the normal, no need for the extra.

Aye, I've been reading a few websites there and my choice is between the 60gb one and the elite.

Now, I'm leaning towards the 60gb one.
I gather that the only differences between the 60gb and the elite is the memory and the cable.
I don't have a HD Tv yet so I don't need the cable yet, and am I right in thinking when I do get the HD TV I can just buy the cable?
I don't really understand why you'd need 120gb worth of memory on a console, any downloading I do is on the computer and from what I can gather I'll be able to stream any films or that, on the computer, through the xbox to watch on the telly?  So I really don't need that extra memory.

Loading the games on to the xbox would be handy though, how much space would one game take up?
Is it really as noisey as everyone says?
Isn't the 50 quid price tag on the wireless thing ridiculous!

Anyways, I think I'll go for the 60gb one.

Definitely go for the 60gig minimum though (think its the same price as the 20gig now) - I've at least 20gig worth of downloadable games on my hard drive, including the new GTA4 add-on (basically a full new game and can only be downloaded) and loads of classic games. All this stuff is available through XBox live and trust me you will end up filling up a hard drive very quickly, plus upgrading a hard drive later is costly. MS and game studios will start distributing more and more content through XBox live, especially after the success of the new GTA.

It's just under 5 gig to load a game - you still need to insert the disc though just to prevent piracy. Its not overly loud but I prefer playing from the hard drive as it runs cooler and I want to make sure I don't get the 3 red lights. You won't have the 3 reds issue "probably" as you will get one of the new spec machines which run cooler anyway.

Yeah I agree the wireless is a rip off, but again if you don't need it, you don't have to pay for it.

pintsofguinness

aaaah now I'm leaning towards the elite!

I take it you have to pay to download the games?  Are they same prices as in the shops?
Is it possible to download games from torrent sites straight to the xbox?
