Some very good books with a Kerry slant.

Includes a full copy of Dick's book from, 1914, How to play Gaelic football.

Don't forget

Tom Humphries Green Fields is a fantastic read, rather than concentrating just on the stars of the game he visits clubs and people around the country as well as talking to some big names, might be a bit out dated for some of the younger ones but for me the best GAA book ever written

if he like a tear jerker then "house of pain" by keith duggan is a good one :(
Yes, really enjoyed that one. Brought back so many great memories.
Aren't you the bad bastard  ;D

Buy anything by Tom Humphries...

.....apart from that the best one I have read lately was Seán Kelly's book...whether you agree or not with what he did during his term as Uachtarán you would have to admit that it gives a great insight into a time of enormous change in the GAA. His "observations" about a certain "Mr M Greenan" from Cavan make interesting reading.

Does anyone have a copy of that they'd be willing to burn for me? Wouldn't mind seeing it again

Yes, a very good read.

Unfortunately, like Hardy, I lent my copy to a gaaboard poster who has yet to return it.

Fortunately, unlike Hardy, I remember who I lent it to. Any chance Shane?

Enjoyed that one too. Trailed the wife to Waterstones and pointed it out, saying that would be a good Christmas present. Says she, "My da only reads football books about Down".

I think that would work much better as a DVD, with Hugo Duncan, Philomena Begley, Pio McCann and the Blarney Roses etc. belting out tunes like "The Flower of Sweet Strabane" and "Pretty little girl from Omagh". "The Mountains Of Pomeroy" would be banned from such a DVD on taste ground - it would introduce a semblance of taste to the whole project.

What did he say about Mr Greenan. A man who seems to get a lot of unwarranted stick for me.

Fortunately, I eventually found out who it was and got it back, restoring my faith in human nature. It was further restored when I temporarily swapped it for Kings Of September with a decent Offaly man and he had it back to me in about a week.

So it's available again if anyone wants a read of it.
