Because Congress decided that Div 4 teams would not be let play in the Qualifiers. ::)
Wicklow and O'Dwyer knew the rules before a ball was kicked.
Anyway let's be honest - at least half the teams in the Qualifiers ( incl my own) will be only making up the numbers.
That will rise to three quarters of them next year when the Div 4 teams also get to play in round 1.

Besides the point but
could Wicklow not have made a serious attempt at getting promoted to Div 3?

Micko, after the game against Kildare, was buyont and declared that the real season started in May, league does not matter.
After this game he admitted that Laois were a sharper due to playing league div1 standard.

Regardless of how much you rate the league, the higher the division the higher the standard of opposition, the better it is to play against better teams.

micko says whatever suits himself, he trys to be a genius when he defies logic by beating a div 1 team like kildare stating league don't matter but when they lose to another div 1 team league is all important ??? ???. Still it is a bit of a joke having a team they beat still in the championship like Kildare. League does matter. Wexford looked like a div 3 team in the first half yesterday, wicklow looked like a div 4 team for most of saturdays' game bar the last 20. I couldn't understand Wicklow's ambivalence to the league this year. real progress would have been to get promoted to build on the TM last year. They started training last october so they must have had the league in mind. Maybe thye simply weren't good enough to get out of it. that's the way it looks to me.
Maybe as a bonus any div 4 team that beats a team higher than div 4 in the championship should be allowed to play in the qualifiers while the defeated team should be banished to the TM as punishment for losing. that would have been fairer this year.

You need Realplayer - available free at www.real.com - If you have this already and still are having problems, patience is the key - it takes about 10-15 seconds to load up

Exactly. What's all this nonsense about letting Wicklow into the qualifiers? Rightly or wrongly, they knew at the start of the season that had they been promoted from Div 4 they would avoid the Tommy Murphy Cup. They weren't good enough to get promotion, so this is their lot.

I also can't stand this whole darling Mick O'Dwyer stuff. Like he's some sort of messiah. I didn't hear a similar cry for Antrim to be let into the qualifiers, when, in reality, there's little difference between Wicklow and Antrim.

Having gone to the bother of purchasing a new midfielder, you'd think that there might have been a few bob spare to get an adequate keeper. His kickouts were shockin bad and a major factor in Wicklow's eclipse in the middle of the park (or on their own 45 to be more exact)

Managed teams to win was it 8 All Irelands and something like 15 or 16 Provincials?
Maybe not a Messiah but certainly has the Midas touch ( in a lot of ways  ::) ;))
I see he's now throwing the rattle out of the pram being quoted as not interested in managing Wicklow in the TM Cup.
Have funds run out I wonder?
