Has anyone bought a home wifi extender/booster recently and have any recommendations?  We would have a very weak or non existent signal in some of our rooms.  I've searched and read about a few of the products out there but it seems like a bit of a minefield.   

Be interested in that also, as the eldest girl will be moving back after the summer and I can't arsed hearing about the poor Wi-Fi!

Invest in a "mesh network". 300 odd quid but you'll extend your network and have no issues with connectivity further out in your house.

I'm piggybacking from a neighbouring house using the TP-Link Deco E4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System from Argos as Fibrus wouldn't install us yet as we're a new build not listed in Project Stratum. It does a great job with less than a 5mb drop in max speed over a fair distance as long as there is a clear line of sight. I can't imagine there would be any issue using them in a house over shorter distances.

I'm with Sky and I read somewhere online that if you complain, they might send you a booster, depending on your deal.  I will maybe investigate that option too. I think I likely already know the answer though.

Some of the mesh systems are a little bit tricky compatability wise with Sky Q etc. Worth looking at prior to purchasing, Google it.

Phoned sky and told them the problem. They said they could supply a booster box for 6 quid a month.

After a few more discussions the lad said that our router is over 5 years old so they'll send a new one and see if that improves things first.

Sounds like a racket.

Came to the end of the 2 year contract with Fibrus - was paying £29.99 p/m for 100mb/s. Managed to get 500mb/s for 34.99 with new router and guarentee i'd get level wifi coverage thorughout the house. Installed yesterday - speedtest last night showing 499. Different Gravy - in comparison 2 years ago i struggled to get 2mb/s speed.

Is the new deal with Fibrus? For some reason they haven't came to my area, all around us done and the equipment is installed but no connections

Had the top package for £60 a month - they have offered £55 a month after calling them.

£45 per month for new customers mind you.

Have me by the balls as no other provider in the area yet - bastids

I had spoke to them a while ago but I'll maybe give them another call. Need to get better service in now as I work from home full time now and the exiting service is shite. Tried the airnet one but they didn't answer my calls after initial contact. Can't get full fibre with any other providers

Downgrade to the 500mb/s at £35 per month at the end of your contract. Absolutely no need for 1gb speeds in homes lol. Id no need to upgrade to 500mb/s but sure for a 5er extra I went ahead.

I've fibrus and work from home.

When it works its very good and I've the 100MB package and no issues.

BUT

If a fibre gets broken and you're out in the sticks like me don't expect it to be fixed within a day or two, it'll take a week or two minimum to sort it because they send some crowd out to inspect your internal house connections and that takes two days and more, they fill in their report and then if you're lucky they'll send another crowd out to try and fix the external fibres...

I'd a lad arrive to my house to check the internal wiring and about half a mile from my house the actual fibre was lying across the road, broken.

He came to my house, went into the attic and proceeded to tell me there was no "light" to the house to which I bit my tongue in response by telling him he'd almost certainly drove over the broken fibre...
Yeah, I saw that was his response as he went on his merry way.
