What sort of people become ice hockey fans, and travel to away matches?

Canadians.

Actually, I meant what kind of Irish people, who would have been brought up on gaelic, or soccer, or cricket, or tennis, or cycling, or athletics, or chess, or whist?
People that like getting blocked at sporting events i.e. Armagh football supporters from Lurgan.

Was reading through this thread as a few Dubs were asking me what's the Ice Hockey like and would it be worth there while going up for a night out to watch a game.
Have any of ye been recently? Does it get a good crowd? Much of an atmosphere or still a borefest?

If not then what else would you recommend for the Dubs to go to in Belfast instead for a night out?

I would go once every few months. It's not bad for a night's entertainment. Won't give you the same entertainment as any football game though but good for something different.

There are particular games you get which are "grudge" matches. It would probably be worth picking one of those out. (I think Sheffield would be the main ones)

It doesn't get a full house but there are a good few thousand go.

The atmosphere isn't mad as there are more families at it than die hards but it's not bad. Worth going to if you haven't been before.

I took the weans last year and I was pleasantly surprised. Wouldn't be a bad non-pub way to kill a few hours (and you could still have a few pints at the match  ;))

I would be a big NHL fan but can't get into the local hockey thing.Have been a few times and it's a decent night's entertainment but it's not something I would rush back to.

Is it a European League or a British one they play in?
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

It's a uk one. There's an edinburgh team  a fife team, a cardiff one, nottingham and sheffield.

I'm sure there are more but not sure who.
