New Clare manager Ger O'Loughlin will have to plan without forward Tony Carmody for the forthcoming season.

Carmody has told the Banner management he doesn't have the required appetite for inter-county hurling so will not commit for the 2010 season.

Carmody began his Limerick career in 2001 and earned one All-Star nomination.

Carmody's decision follows that of Niall Gilligan who this week confirmed his retirement from the game, while Tony Griffin declined an invitation to return to training on Monday night.

Never rated Carmody with that sideboard of a hurl, got hooked and blocked down too much.

I thought Gilligam said he would play with the club and see what happens which is code for he couldn't be bothered knocking his balls in over the winter then playing a pile of shite in Div 2 and he would be there for the Championship.
