St Andrews looks a bit shit compared to the American courses imo

American courses are very much set up for the asthetics, and the golfing "experience".

By experience I mean tailored greens, fairways, immaculate bunkers, golf carts included in your round, cart paths and beautiful ladies driving around on trolleys selling beer.

Give me a walk around the links any day.

st andrews is the traditional home of golf, the american courses are all built to design in the fairly recent past.

Usually parkland courses are easier on the eye but links courses are regarded as the true test of a golfer

Not saying that St Andrews isnt the traditional home or anything like that. Just doesnt look as nice as the american courses such as Agusta and Pebble beach.

What is the best course everyone has played on and how much does it cost for a round of golf. Golf is a sport i would love to get into once i get a bit more time.

Agusta = perfect allignment of the stars to get playin there.

Just finished playing here in Mount Juillet, €120 for the average person ,free when you know someone who works here 

oh and to answer your question Jim, best course I ever played at was Druids Glen in Wicklow, it's quite expensive can't remember what we paid but it was over €100

AFAIK the Royal County Down doesn't meet the Royal and Ancient's criteria for holding the Open. Think it is due to road networks and lack of accomodation.

Arguably, the RCD is the best links course in the world. Woods and Nicklaus are on record for saying this.
