Rooney wouldn't have made the squads that Pele played in...

ross4life

It's funny... for 4/5 years fergie uses Rooney as a left winger/very deep striker most said "he's a good player never a great one" last season Fergie get's him to use his head & plays him up top, goal hanger type most said "he's the white Pele"

Now Capello plays him deep (was left winger for last 20mins last night) most says "told you He's a good player never a great one"

"Most" or just united fans?

ross4life

Bit of both i guess? i'm not sure was it the British media or the united fan's that started this "white Pele" crap

IMO if it wasn't for the brilliant delivery from Nani/Valencia, Rooney wouldn't have scored half the goals he did last season

That's a ridiculously lame exzcuse given he's played 80% of the two games as a striker.

The excuse should be that he's not 100% fit, and most of his teammates are playing even worse than he is.

ross4life

No excuse hound i'm just saying what i see! England need to play Rooney up top like united did last season but i don't think he'll get the same delivery from the like's of Lennon, Milner or Wright-Phillips

Don't think he was old enough and I'm almost sure he's not Brazilian............ HTH

You're right he's not Brazilian, that's for definate. Not sure what age he is... 12 or 13 maybe. I see his Mammy or his agent wrote a note of apology for him to the England supporters.

Following in the great tradition of Manchester United players being the scapegoats for Englands inevitable exit from a big competition, think Beckham (1998), Phil Neville (2000), Rooney/Ronaldo depending on your point of view (2006) who will have the honour this time???

Rooneys the obvious favourite for being a bit crap, but what about Scholes for turning down the offer to be the creative midfielder they're crying out for?? or Hargreaves for being constantly broken?? Thought Evra might be a contender but France hardly get playing England now. Maybe "Little Pea" will score one against them with his hand in injury time.....

Roy Keane?

I think the chances of rooney losing the head and getting sent off in the next game are pretty high.

I agree. I'm sure the Slovenians will be made aware that his temperament wouldn't be that great at the minute and to go to work on this.

I'd be surprised if he wouldn't have made the NY Cosmos squad.

The way he's played at the World Cup, I'd doubt it  ;)

On current form he wouldn't .

Looks like the white Pele is set to become a World Cup legend...  ::)

England captain Steven Gerrard has backed striker Wayne Rooney to end his goal-scoring drought when they face Germany in the last 16 on Sunday.
Rooney has not scored for England in a competitive match for nine months and has struggled at the World Cup so far.
Gerrard said: "It's only a matter of time before Wayne scores in this tournament; hopefully that is tomorrow.
"I have every confidence he will play well. He played well in the last game and looks really sharp in training."

paco

I hate bullshit interviews like that, what do the press expect him to say? "No, Wayne's been shit so far and Germany are a far better side than anyone we've played so I expect more of the same."
