Can anyone tell me why a survey of dubious methodological quality, on the popularity of different sports in Ireland, by a PR company, is receiving such coverage in our national newspapers?
I was quite disappointed to see that Colm O'Rourke had bought into the nonsense today.
I'd say we can expect plenty more silly season "The GAA is in trouble" style articles before the year is out.
Who commissioned this survey as a matter of interest?

theres a thread on this started bt gnevin. its not wort the paper its written on with the sample size (600) and the dublin/leinster skew (cant remember but way to high)

They were even on about it on the BBC today in the rugby coverage from Croke Park.

Didn't see it.
What bugged me is that this survey was cited in about 4 or 5 separate articles in todays Sindo.
I'd say one thing about the rugby crowd, they are way ahead when it comes to the PR game.

Wouldn't pay much attention to a D4 based PR company.  As I said in that thread my local rugby club- one of the most successful in Ireland is nearly broke and gets an attendance of approx 150 per game. If the likes of Alan Ruddock and Co want to call that a success story. Be my guest.

I didnt quite catch that at the time but I think Woody to be fair to him set the record straight.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

In fairness them, Mick O'Keefe of ex-Dubs & Crokes is the assistant Managing Director so it's not as if they haven't a clue about GAA.

Even if those who participated in GAA chose Rugby as their most popular sport you wouldn't end up with these figures.
